RADFORD TO FACE GWU SATURDAY IN FIRST BSC ROAD GAME

SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford will look to begin Big South play 2-0 in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.
  • The Highlanders are coming off an 78-52 conference opening win over Winthrop, which gave the Highlanders a league opening win in consecutive seasons for the first time in seven years.
  • Gardner-Webb had its eight-game winning streak snapped in overtime as the Runnin' Bulldogs fell to High Point 83-80 in overtime.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Highlanders own a four-game winning streak over the Runnin' Bulldogs, sweeping the season series a season ago and collecting a quarterfinal victory in the tournament.
  • Radford owns a 14-9 clip in the all-time series dating back to Dec. 21, 2003.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Radford matched a program record with 21 consecutive home wins on Tuesday, the mark is the third longest home winning streak in the country.
  • In the 26-point win over Winthrop, the Highlander offense was running on all cylinders as Radford made a season-high 34 field goals on 75 attempts for a 45.3 shooting clip, assisting on season best 22 buckets for the fourth 20-assist game on the season.
  • In its first league game of the season, Radford placed five players in double-figures for the first time since Dec. 2, 2015. Continuing her torrid pace, Jayda Worthy finished with a team-high 21 points on 9 of 16 shooting, finishing a rebound shy of a double-double.
  • Janayla White and Lydia Rivers chipped in with a pair of double-doubles as the Highlanders have only achieved that feat once this season.
  • White tallied 14 points on 7 of 9 shooting, while pulling down 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double on the season and the 27th of her career.
  • Rivers finished with 12 points and matched a career-high 16 rebounds for her second double-double in the last four games.
  • Rivers matched a career best 16 rebounds set on Dec. 12, 2015 and becomes the first Highlander with 15-plus rebounds since White at Charleston Southern on Jan. 21, 2017.
  • Radford pulled down 55 rebounds, marking the first time the Highlanders had pulled down 50-plus since that same Charleston Southern game.
  • The Highlanders turned 23 offensive rebounds in 26 second-chance points.
  • Rounding out the Highlanders' five in double-figures, Khiana Johnson finished with 15 points for her ninth double-figure game on the season and Claudia finished with 11 points on three 3-pointers.
  • Radford dished out a season best 22 assists as four players finished with four-plus assists as Jen Falconer increased her season mark to 2.4 per game with a season-high six dimes.
  • Leading the team with 3.2 assists per game, Quevedo leads the league and ranks 69th in the country with a 2.24 assist-to-turnover ratio.
  • In the last five games, Radford has assisted on 103 of 158 made field goals.
  • The Highlanders have shot over 40-percent in five out of the last six games.
  • Defensively, Radford ranks 38th in the country by holding opposing teams to 56.9 points per game.

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
  • The Runnin' Bulldogs enter the game with a 7-1 home record with the only loss coming in a 65-30 decision to UCF on Nov. 17. Since that loss, Gardner-Webb has won six straight
  • Offensively, Gardner-Webb is led by two players in seniors Tierra Huntsman and Alexus Hill.
  • Huntsman leads the Big South and ranks 71st in the country with 18.3 ppg. Hill is not far behind, ranking fourth in the league with 15.2 per game.
  • Huntsman ranks second in the conference with a 43.3 shooting clip from behind the arc, making 29 of 67 attempts.
  • She also finds a way to the charity stripe, possessing a 74.0 percentage, making 57 of 77 attempts.
  • In addition to leading the team with 6.6 rebounds per game, Huntsman averages 2.8 assists per game.
  • Savannah Plentovich is close to averaging double-figures with 9.2 per game, but leads the team with a 48.8 field goal percentage.
  • Leading the league with 27 blocks, Celia Tibbs ranks 40th in the category nationally and 31st with 2.3 per game.
  • On the defensive side of the ball, Gardner-Webb is holding opponents to 59.1 ppg, ranking 68th.
  • The Runnin' Bulldogs own one the best teams in the country in defending the three-point ball, ranking second nationally with a 23.6 percentage.
