VOLLEYBALL TRAVELS TO PALMETTO STATE FOR A PAIR OF CONFERENCE MATCHES



RADFORD, Va. – The Radford volleyball team travels to South Carolina this weekend to compete in a pair of Big South matches. The first is on Friday at Charleston Southern at 6 p.m., while the second is against Presbyterian in Clinton, S.C., at 4 p.m.

ABOUT THE MATCHUP
Radford will meet with Charleston Southern for the 52nd time in program history. The Highlandrs hold a 37-14 advantage over the Buccaneers. Radford leads the all-time series with Presbyterian, 10-7.
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
The Highlanders have 725 kills this season and are averaging 13.4 kills per set, which ranks second in the league. Defensively, the Highlanders are first in the Big South in opponents hitting percentage. Opponents are only hitting .152 against the Highlanders. Mallory McKnight leads the Highlanders and the Big South with a .363 hitting percentage. McKnight also leads Radford and places fourth in the Big South with 2.94 kills per set. The Highlanders have 93 service aces as Haley Kleespies leads with 31, while Alyssa Carruth isn't far behind with 22.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Radford outlasted a pesky Campbell team and picked up a four set victory last Saturday. The Highlanders had a great team effort as a trio of players recorded double-digit kills and double-digit digs. Grace Green compiled a team-high 19 digs, while Valerie Gonzalez recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 kills and 15 digs.
 
ABOUT CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
Charleston Southern leads the Big South in digs (17.02) and sits second in opponents' hitting percentage (.158). CSU sits as one of the top two in opponents' hitting percentage and is among the top-three in digs per set in the Big South. Junior setter Naiomi Rivera has collected 20-plus assists in 14 of the Bucs' 15 matches this season including four with 30 or more during Big South play.
 
ABOUT PRESBYTERIAN
Presbyterian (7-10, 4-2 Big South) posted a three set win over South Carolina State on Tuesday night. The Blue Hose won four of their previous six matches prior to the South Carolina State match. All four wins were against Big South opponents. PC is averaging 11.1 kills per set and is hitting .162 as a team. The Blue Hose have five players with 100-plus kills this season. Erin Cooke leads the team with 168 and is averaging 2.43 kills per set. Sydney De Jong is the only Blue Hose that is hitting over .300 with 100-plus kills.
