RADFORD WELCOMES LONGWOOD FOR FINAL HOME WEEKNIGHT GAME



GAME INFORMATION
SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford (18-7, 11-3) saved its best basketball for the second half of Big South play as the Highlanders have won six in a row and 10 out of their last 11 games.
  • The Highlanders sit one-game out of first place in the conference standings behind Liberty (12-2) with four games remaining.
  • Radford will close out the stretch of playing the bottom two teams in the standings as the Highlanders welcome ninth-place Longwood into the Dedmon Center.
  • Longwood is coming off an 57-50 overtime upset over Campbell on Saturday.
  • Tuesday night's game will serve as the final home weeknight game for the Highlanders as Radford will return home Saturday, March 3 for Senior Day.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Highlanders picked up a 52-33 victory on Jan. 16 in the first meeting, moving the winning streak to seven straight over the Lancers.
  • Radford's defense held Longwood to 11 points in the opening half, limiting them to only 12 made field goals in the game for a 22.6 field goal percentage. The Highlanders turned 15 turnovers into 18 points.
  • Janayla White paced the team with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Radford leads the all-time series 26-13, holding a 14-2 clip in home games.
  • Longwood's last win inside the Dedmon Center came on Dec. 29, 2012.
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Radford continued to make a statement in the second half of Big South play with a dominating 70-30 win at Winthrop on Saturday afternoon.
  • The 40-point victory was the first by the Highlanders since a 74-34 win at Longwood on Feb. 14, 2017. Radford now has four wins on the season decided by 25-points or more.
  • The Highlanders surpassed its season high margin of victory by two points that came in the record-breaking 38-point win over Presbyterian on Jan. 20.
  • Radford shot 45.8 percent from the field, making 27 of 59 attempts as the Highlanders have shot over 40-percent in eight out of the last 11 games.
  • Of Radford's 70 points, 40 came within the paint, most by the Highlanders on the season.
  • Thirty points is the lowest total by a Highlander opponent this season as the defense has held 10 out of the last 11 under 60 points, including six under 50 points.
  • The Highlanders have only allowed 60-plus points in three of 14 league games, all coming as losses.
  • Radford is 27-4 in the last 57 games when holding opposing teams under 60 points, including a 15-1 mark on the season. The Highlanders are 9-1 when holding them under 50 points.
  • The Highlander defense is holding Big South foes to 51.1 points per game, while ranking sixth nationally with a 53.9 scoring defense.
  • Radford held Winthrop to a 16.9 field goal percentage, lowest by an opposing team this season.
  • In the last 12 games, 10 opponents have been held below 40 percent shooting as the Highlanders rank second in the league with a 36.3 field goal defense, which is 29th in the country.
  • Radford leads the Big South, holding teams to a 34.2 shooting clip in league games.
  • The Highlanders also rank 17th nationally with a 27.5 three-point field goal percentage defense.
  • Offensively, Radford has shot over 40 percent in eight out of the last 11 games. The Highlanders possess a 41.2 field goal percentage, while shooting 44.0 in league games.
 
SCOUTING LONGWOOD
  • The Lancers enter the contest with a 1-12 record on the road as the lone win came in a 75-60 win at Presbyterian on Feb. 10.
  • Longwood has won two out of its last three, but have lost 10 of last 12.
  • Autumn Childress leads the team with 10.8 ppg and 10.9 rpg, serving as the lone player averaging a double-double in the Big South, but has not appeared in enough games to qualify. Childress has appeared in 18 games.
  • Longwood is averaging 54.2 ppg, which ranks ninth in the league. Owning a -12.9 scoring margin, opponents are averaging 67.0 per game.
  • The Lancers possess a league-worst 33.2 field goal percentage, ranking 346th out of 349 NCAA Division I teams.
  • Averaging 17.7 miscues per game, Longwood has returned the favor, forcing opponents to commit 16.7 per game.

  • Radford will begin its two-game road swing on Saturday, traveling to Presbyterian for a 2 p.m., matchup.
  • The Highlanders shot a record-breaking 72.2 percent in a 93-55 victory over the Blue Hose on Jan. 20. Radford placed five in double-figures.
