SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford returns to the NRV with its first ever 1-0 start as a program
  • The Highlanders are 1-1 in home openers at Cupp Stadium. They won their first-ever game inside Cupp in 2016 with a 1-0 victory over Howard and the loss came to Saint Francis (PA) last season
  • The Highlanders are 1-0 against teams out of the NEC in 2018
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
Record: 1-0
  • Radford picked up a win in convincing fashion to open the season with a 13-8 victory over Saint Francis (PA) last Friday
  • The Highlanders jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never fell behind en route to the season-opening win
  • Jenny Davis was stellar in the opener, racking up 13 saves and only allowing eight goals. The performance earned her Big South Defensive Player of the Week
  • A trio of players had three goals each against SFU. Callie Bonnel, Lindsey Carroll and Juliette Ruland had nine of the team's 13 goals
  • Emma Rogers added two goals of her own, while Brittany Rinaldi and Amanda Paino added one each
  • Radford ranks first in the Big South with 39 ground ball pick ups and second in caused turnovers per game with 13
  • The Highlanders rank first in goals against average as they have only allowed eight on the young season
 
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
Record: 1-1
  • Coach Katrina Silva, who is no stranger to the NRV, is currently in her first season at the helm for Robert Morris. She spent four years as the head coach at Virginia Tech from 2008-11
  • The Colonials were picked to finish third in the eight-team Northeast Conference this season
  • RMU suffered a tough loss in double overtime to Bucknell in its season opener on Feb. 10, but bounced back for a big-time 10-9 win over rival Duquesne last Saturday
  • 21 of the team's total 45 shots came in the second half of their two contests and 30 of the 45 have been on goal
  • Nine different Colonials have scored at least one goal this season. Meghan Crouse leads the way with four of her own. Five of her seven shot attempts have been on target
 
UP NEXT
  • Radford travels north to The Empire State to face LIU Brooklyn and Columbia on March 3 and 6, respectively
  • The Highlanders faced LIU Brooklyn last season and picked up a 16-10 victory in their first meeting
  • It will be the first time in program history Radford will face a team from the Ivy League when they travel to Columbia
