RADFORD BEGINS SPRING BREAK TRIP WITH LIU BROOKLYN

SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford is coming off a tough 11-15 loss to Robert Morris in the 2018 home opener so they'll look to get back on track and get above .500 for the season
  • LIU Brooklyn is looking for its first win after dropping games to Rutgers and UMBC to begin the year

SERIES HISTORY
  • The Highlanders and Blackbirds met for the first time ever last season, resulting in a 16-10 win for Radford at Cupp Stadium
  • Then-freshman Lindsey Carroll netted five goals on only seven shots . Rogers (3), Rius (2), Harris (2), O'Connell (2) and Ruland (2) all scored multiple goals in the winning effort
  • Attacker Sierra O'Connor led LIU Brooklyn with three goals of her own

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 1-1 (0-0 Big South)
  • Saturday's game marks the first game to be played in the state of New York by the women's lacrosse program at Radford
  • Radford had zero road wins in 2016 and one in 2017. With a win at LIU Brooklyn, they would surpass their total from the last two seasons combined and continue to show their steady improvement
  • Sophomore attacker Lindsey Carroll has seven goals on only eight shot attempts. With her one assist, she's up to eight points in two games
  • Sophomore goalie Jenny Davis, who has already earned one Big South Defensive Player of the Week merit, has racked up 25 saves across two games
  • Freshman defender Rachel Ator has started each of her first two collegiate games and currently leads Radford with four cause turnovers
  • The Highlanders have accumulated a .453 shot percentage while holding opponents to only .348

SCOUTING THE BLACKBIRDS
  • Record: 0-2 (0-0 NEC)
  • LIU Brooklyn was picked to finish eighth in the NEC preseason poll after posting a 3-12 record last season
  • This year's Blackbirds squad features 11 letterwinners and nine newcomers
  • They fell to Rutgers, 15-4, in their season opener before dropping a 16-3 decision to UMBC four days later
  • LIU Brooklyn has scored a combined seven goals with season with each goal being scored by a different player
  • The Blackbirds off been out-shot 76-30 in 2018, 46 of which have come in the first half
  • LIU does has done an excellent job on clears this season, converting 33 of 40 chances (82.5%)
