RADFORD BLANKS CAMPBELL TO BEGIN CONFERENCE PLAY

RADFORD, Va. – After a close first half, the Radford women's soccer team exploded with four second-half goals all within 13 minutes to blank Campbell, 4-0, on Wednesday night at Cupp Stadium.

The two teams applied some pressure in the first half in a close battle, but the Highlanders opened the floodgates in the second half with 13 shots. The first shot that found the back of the net was in the 53rd minute by Jessica Wollmann. Ana Revollo headed the ball to Wollmann, who dribbled the ball down the sideline and placed it perfectly past the oncoming keeper. The goal gave Radford a 1-0 lead.

A little over a minute and a half later the Highlanders took a 2-0 lead without even taking a shot. Campbell's Anna Brantley was tabbed with the own goal in the 54th minute. Radford pressed the ball once more in the 59th minute as Nelia Perez tried to cross it to the middle of the field. Brantley was in the wrong place at the wrong time once again and tried to kick the ball out of bounds, but the it nicked off the sliding Brantley and into back of the net. The second own goal gave Radford a 3-0 lead.

Assuming the 3-0 lead wouldn't be enough, Nelia Perez put the cherry on top with her second goal of the season in the 66th minute. Jasmine Casarez found Perez racing down the middle of the field. Once Perez received the pass she fired a shot right inside of the 18-yard box that went low, but blew past the keepers outstretched hand.

The 4-0 lead was the insurance the Highlanders needed as they picked up their first win against the Fighting Camels since 2013, when the Highlanders went 15-3-2 and 10-1 in the Big South.

MOMENT THAT MATTERED
Wollmann broke the ice in the 53rd minute with her go-ahead goal, while Perez sealed the deal in the 66th minute. Beginning with Wollmann's score and ending with Perez's goal, the Highlanders took eight shots – not including the two own goals – and held Campbell to just two in the 13 minute span.

STAT OF THE MATCH
It was a tale of two halves as the Highlanders took 21 total shots compared to the Camels 12. 13 of Radford's shots came in the second half and the defense held Campbell to just five in that frame. The Highlanders have posted three shutouts this season and Campbell has been held without a goal in seven straight matches.

DID YOU KNOW?
Wollmann has scored nine game-winning goals in her career and she ranks second all-time at Radford. She needs one more to tie for the top spot and two more to control first place in that category.

MATCH LEADERS
Casarez led with six shots – two on goal, while Perez and Helena Gonzalez charted three total shots. Courtenay Kaplan added another shutout and five saves to go along with it. She has a 4-1-1 record on the season.

TWEETS OF THE MATCH

QUOTABLE
"I thought it was an even first half but I thought we played very average," Ben Sohrabi said. "After regrouping at halftime it seemed our entire team made the necessary adjustments to get a win. It was great to start with a win at home in conference play and tomorrow we will prepare for a very good Gardner-Webb team on the road."
