LAST TIME OUT
With four players in double figures and another strong performance at the free throw line, the Radford men's basketball team came out on top, 79-72, against USC Upstate in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

With the game tied at 53-all and only 10 minutes left to play in regulation, the Highlanders took control with an 8-0 run that kept them in front for good. Senior forward Ed Polite Jr. ignited the offense by scoring or assisting on eight straight points and then junior center Devonnte Holland scored six straight points of his own to give Radford a commanding 67-56 lead.

A trio of late 3-pointers by the Spartans kept things interesting, but the Highlanders hit their free throws when it mattered most for the second straight game to clinch another victory.

SERIES HISTORY
In 21 all-time meetings, Radford holds a 14-7 advantage over Presbyterian. The two programs first met in 2007 when they played twice in two weeks. The Highlanders topped the Blue Hose, 68-54, in the New River Valley on Nov. 11 before Presbyterian got revenge with a 62-60 victory over Radford in Clinton, S.C. on Dec. 1.

Radford topped Presbyterian in both games last season, earning a 78-62 win on Dec. 30 and a 74-68 overtime victory on Feb. 18.

FIELDS' STEALS
Fields Jr. continues to be a force on the defensive end, collecting four steals against the Spartans including three in the first six minutes of the game. After nabbing 33 steals across 35 games in 2017-18, the Portsmouth, Va. native now has 31 steals in just 15 games this year.

He set a new season and career high in steals when he recorded six at James Madison on Dec. 4 and he followed that up with a five steal performance against Georgia Southern on Dec. 21.

SCOUTING THE BLUE HOSE
After going 11-21 overall and 4-14 in conference play last season, Presbyterian is already showing signs of major improvement in 2018-19. The Blue are already 9-8 with a 1-1 Big South record and their points per game average has increased from 66.4 to 77.9.

Picked to finish ninth out of 11 teams in the Big South Preseason Poll, PC earned a 64-61 victory over conference newcomer USC Upstate to kick off conference play. The Blue Hose came back down to earth a bit on Thursday night, dropping a 74-58 decision on the road at High Point.

Senior forward Francois Lewis and freshman guard Adam Flagler are tied for the team lead with 14.9 points per game while freshman forward Cory Hightower carries the load on the boards with 6.6 rebounds per game. Redshirt senior guard Davon Bell was one of the better players in the Big South last year and he continues to be excellent, leading the conference with 5.6 assists per game.
