HIGHLANDER UPDATE
Radford will finish up a difficult stretch of three games in five days on Saturday against the Eagles. Radford is 60-16 all-time against Winthrop and are 30-5 at the Dedmon Center. The Highlanders have won six straight in the series and have not lost since 2/17/15 in Rock Hill. Radford is 4-1 this season when coming off a loss.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Radford suffered their first Big South Conference defeat of the season as they fell to the Hampton Pirates, 68-54, on Thursday evening at the Hampton Convocation Center. Redshirt junior center Sydney Nunley posted her fifth straight double-double as she matched her career-high with 22 points and pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds. Senior guard/forward Destinee Walker and junior guard Khiana Johnson (3 steals) were also in double-figures with 10 points each. 
 
WALKER APPROACHING 1,000 POINTS/500 REBOUNDS 
Walker, who is now 21st all-time in a Radford uniform with 1,059 career points, has reached double-figures in scoring in 12 of 14 contests this season. She is 17 caroms shy of becoming just the 21st Highlander with 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. Walker is currently 6th in the league in scoring at 13.9 ppg, 10th in rebounding (6.9 pg.) and 11th in assists (2.6 pg.). She is averaging 9.2 rebounds per game over her last five contests and is 8-for-19 (.421) from three-point distance.
 
NUNLEY CONTINUES TO BUILD OFF HER BIG SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD
Nunley has enjoyed a spectacular five-game stretch filling in for the injured Savannah Felgemacher at the center position and was rewarded with the Big South Player of the Week this past Monday The redshirt junior is averaging 19.0 points, 14.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game over the last five contests. Nunley, who is 36-of-72 from the floor during the stretch, has started in all of those contests and is averaging 32.6 minutes per game. Her five double-doubles lead the conference and she has skyrocketed all the way up to fifth in the league in rebounding at 7.8 per game. She also leads the conference with 4.0 offensive rebounds per game and is now fourth with a .494 field goal percentage.
 
RIVERS AMONG THE NATION'S LEADERS
Despite missing the last three contests, Rivers continues to lead the Big South in rebounding and is 58th in the country at 9.1 per game. She also just outside of the top-100 in blocks (1.45 pg.)

HIGHLANDER MISCELLANEOUS
Walker is three games shy of making 100 appearances in a Highlander uniform…She also needs 3 treys for 100 career makes…Junior guard Jen Falconer recorded her 200th career assist at Hampton on Thursday…She has started all 87 games that she has appeared in during her career…Junior guard Khiana Johnson needs 11 points to reach 700 for her career…Nunley and redshirt junior Savannah Felgemacher are both averaging 15.9 rebounds per 40 minutes this season…Nunley is posting a team-best 20.9 points per 40 minutes...Nunley became the first Highlander to post back-to-back outings with double-figure offensive rebounds (10 vs. High Point, 10 vs. Hampton)...The loss to Hampton was the first time the Highlanders have fallen when committing fewer turnovers than their opponent (6-1)...Radford is yielding an average of just 48.5 points per game in their eight victories and 73.8 ppg. in their six losses.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Winthrop is coming off a 76-50 setback against USC Upstate on Thursday evening…The Eagles opened the Big South slate with victories against Longwood and Charleston Southern…Kem Nwabudu leads the team in scoring (8.6 ppg.) while Anika Riley is seventh in the league in rebounding (7.6 rpg.)…The Eagles are last in the Big South in scoring (56.0 pg.) and are sixth in scoring defense (63.7 pg.).
