HOKIE INVITATIONAL COMES TO A CLOSE WITH SEVERAL POSITIVE RESULTS IN HAND

DAY ONE RECAP

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Yet another stellar time from junior La'Tisha Chambers highlighted the second and final day of the 2019 Hokie Invitational at Rector Field House on Saturday.

Chambers is beginning to create expectations of greatness each time she races and she showed why once again on Saturday. Running in the 200-meter dash, Chambers set an indoor PR and ran the seventh-fastest time in program history at 24.89 seconds. It's the third time already this season she has posted a top-10 time.

Competing in a Highlander uniform for just the second time, sophomore Chancey Gunnell made her coaches proud with a lifetime personal record in the 400-meters. The King, N.C. native placed 12^th with a time of 58.50 seconds while junior Ryan Paine (59.40 seconds) finished just behind her in 15^th.

Over in the high jump, sophomore Taylor Tinsley put together a solid showing with a clearance of 1.58 meters (5'2.25") which is just .03 off her career best. Then in the shot put, freshman Tayelor Thrasher-Walker made her collegiate debut in the shot put and reached a distance of 10.18 meters (33'4.75").

UP NEXT
With two indoor meets now under their belts, the Highlanders head to Lexington on Saturday, Jan. 26 for the VMI Team Challenge. The meet is the first of back-to-back competitions that Radford will compete in at VMI.
