WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ADDS A PAIR OF MID-YEAR TRANSFERS

MADISON LENTZ (PICTURED LEFT) & MORGAN GOODMAN (PICTURED RIGHT) TO PROVIDE DEPTH NEXT SEASON

Radford, Va. – Radford head women's volleyball coach Marci Byers has announced that Morgan Goodman (Cedar Hill, Missouri) and Madison Lentz (Louisville, Kentucky) will join the Highlander program this spring.

Goodman, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter, played the last two seasons at Division II Lewis University. In 2017, she was the recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award, given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence. She was also selected to the GLVC All-Academic Team and helped lead the squad to the 2017 GLVC Championship. Goodman recorded her first career double-double with 17 kills and 11 digs against Illinois-Springfield and had six aces against IUP. She began her career at St. Louis University in 2016 and played in 27 sets. Goodman notched a season-high 14 digs against Austin Peay and recorded a career-high of 10 kills against Virginia. She was home-schooled but competed with the St. Louis Smash club squad. Goodman was a three-time All-Conference selection and Team MVP. She was also a two-time NVHVC Home-School All-Region honoree in 2014 and 2015.

"We recruited Morgan coming out of high school so to have her join us with one-year remaining is a plus for us," said Byers.  "She's a great kid, a hard worker and is off the charts academically. She will add depth to our pin hitters next season."

Lentz is a 5-foot-11 setter who played the last two seasons at Oakland University. This past year, she appeared in 20 matches and played in 62 sets. She recorded 10 or more digs in four matches. Lentz averaged 2.38 digs as a freshman in 2017 and recorded her first career 20 dig performance against Youngstown State. She attended Mercy Academy, where she was a 2016 All-District setter and All-State Honorable Mention. The Jaguars reached the state semifinals in her senior campaign.

"Maddie is another solid pick up for us as she adds more depth to our setting position," Byers said. "She comes in with two years of collegiate experience under her belt which in the long run will help us continue to be solid at that position."

Radford (22-7, 12-4) finished second in the regular-season conference standings and was the runner-up in the Big South Tournament. The program won their first major postseason match as they bested Appalachian State in the opening round of the National Women's Volleyball Championship.
