BURLINGTON, N.C. – The Radford men's golf team saved its best round of the Phoenix Invitational for its last, firing a team score of 8-under in the final round Tuesday to jump five sports and finish seventh at Alamance Country Club.
Peter Gasperini led Radford in the tournament and finished tied for seventh after posting his third consecutive round under par. Gasperini shot a 2-under 69 to finish the tournament at 6-under par.
Tyler Hull led the Highlanders on the final day with a 5-under 66, vaulting himself inside the top 20 for the tournament field. Hull had five birdies on the back nine to shoot 31 on that half of the course.
Patrick Gareiss had his best round of the tournament on Tuesday as well, shooting a 3-under 68 to finish in a tie for 57th.
Overall, Gardner-Webb won the team and individual titles, as the Runnin' Bulldogs finished the tournament with a team score of 19-under. GWU's Jake Scruggs finished the tournament at 19-under to lead all players in the field
