CLINTON, S.C. – The Radford men's golf team wrapped up play at the Musgrove Mill Match Play Invitational Tuesday, as the Highlanders defeated fellow Big South member USC Upstate to finish third in the event.
The Highlanders had a pair of dominant wins in the first and last matches of the day, as
Peter Gasperini won, 6&4, while
Patrick Gareiss won, 5&4, to help Radford seal a 3.5-1.5 win over USC Upstate.
Hunter Duncan won, 2-up, while
Nicholas Taliaferro was all-square in his match to help Radford clinch the win in the third-place match over the Spartans.
Parker See was defeated in his match to close out the tournament for Radford.
STAT OF THE MATCH
Gasperini is 6-0 overall at the Musgrove Mill Match Play after going 3-0 in the tournament in each of the last two seasons. The Highlanders as a team have lost just once at Musgrove Mill.
UP NEXT
Radford will return to action on Monday at the Phoenix Invitational in Burlington, North Carolina. Elon serves as the host school for the two-day tournament.
