CARLIK JONES NAMED TO LOU HENSON AWARD PRESEASON WATCH LIST

BOSTON, Mass. – Redshirt junior guard Carlik Jones has been named to the 2019-20 Lou Henson Award Watch List, CollegeInsider.com announced on Tuesday. The award is presented annually to the nation's top mid-major player in Division I College Basketball.

In 2018-19 Jones was an NABC District 3 First Team Selection after averaging 15.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. His 5.8 assists per contest ranked second in the Big South a year ago. The Cincinnati, Ohio native also sat second in assist/turnover ratio (2.3), second in steals per game (1.7) and tied for fourth in field goal percentage (.463) in the conference last season.

The Big South Preseason Player of the Year ranks 10th in program history with 294 career assists and is 89 points shy of becoming the 32nd player at Radford to record 1,000 points. Last season, Jones was second on the single-season charts in assists with 181.

It's the second time in two years Radford has had a player represented on the award watch list as Ed Polite, Jr., was named to it a season ago. Jones is one of three players represented from Big South schools as Jose Perez (Gardner-Webb) and Jermaine Marrow (Hampton) each made an appearance.

The 2019-20 Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award will be announced in April 2020 in Atlanta, Ga., site of the men's Division I NCAA Basketball Championship.
