HIGHLANDERS FOCUSED ON CRIMSON TIDE

RADFORD, Va.—For their last nonconference game of the season, Radford makes the trek to Tuscaloosa to faceoff with Alabama on Friday, Dec. 20th. Tipoff is slated for 8:00 p.m. Eastern and 7:00 p.m. Central, SEC Network+ will broadcast the game.

Makaila Wilson was red-hot versus American. The game came down to the final possessions, where the Eagles were able to pull away in the waning seconds, 59-55. In her second consecutive game scoring 10 or more points, Wilson set career highs in three different categories. Her 27 minutes played led to her 17 total points, which came from 6-for-11 shooting from the floor. And, behind the arc she was 5-for-9 to tie her career high in three-pointers made in a game.

The Crimson Tide are the second team that the Highlanders have faced for the first time in program history, like Ohio State. On the season, Alabama is the fourth power-5 school that Radford has taken on.

A Radford win would break the current four-game losing streak and allow the Highlanders to take an early edge to commence the series. A loss could push the Highlanders to 2-7 overall, a start comparable to the 2009-10 season (1-8), and give the Crimson Tide the premature advantage in the All-Time series.

Nationally, Radford as a team cracks the top-100 in fewest fouls at 67 and 93 in fewest turnovers. The Highlanders are getting close to breaking the top-100 in three-point field goal percentage at 112. Khiana is 86 in assists per game, fourth in conference. Sydney is 216 in blocked shots per game, fifth in conference. Amele is ranked 26 in offensive rebounds per game and 166 in total rebounds per game, second in the Big South in both of those categories.

Jen Falconer is 10 games away from tying Jayda Worthy (2014-18) for career games played at 123. Khiana Johnson is just six points away from joining the 1,000-point club. Johnson will be the 25th player in history to accomplish this feat and the fifth player to join this elite club in the McGuire era. Falconer & Johnson are also two and three in career three-point attempts at 352 and 323. Falconer is ninth in career assists at 272, and is now joined by Johnson at No.10 with 266. Sydney Nunley has now solidified herself at No.7 in individual career blocks at 101.

Alabama is currently riding a three-game winning streak with their latest victory coming over Bethune-Cookman 60-49. Sophomore Brittany Davis was named SEC Player of the Week and College Sports Madness National Player of the Week for her latest performances. The Crimson Tide have faced a myriad of opponents but only one other Big South school in Hampton, losing 61-64 to the Pirates back on Nov. 6th in Tuscaloosa.
