Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

CAREER SHOOTING FROM TINA LINDENFELD UNABLE TO LIFT HIGHLANDERS OVER BUCKEYES

COLUMBUS, Ohio—For the first ever matchup, this game did not disappoint between Radford and Ohio State. The Highlanders were paced by lights out shooting, paired with yet another career day from Tina Lindenfeld, who made her return to the starting lineup. Radford kept up with their Big Ten opposition, only dropping the game, 70-57.

The team never stopped fighting and picking one another up, whether down double digits or just one point away. Getting key contributions from several players was key for the morale in Value City Arena.

The Highlanders found themselves in a 4-0 hole in the early goings, but a pass into the paint from Bryonna McClean found a rolling Aiden Rainford to get some points on the board. Once the lid was off, McClean's jumper swished through to tie the game at four all. The next three makes for the Highlanders would come via Lindenfeld from behind the arc. Heading into the second quarter, Radford trailed only by two.

The teams went about two minutes without a basket until Rainford's layup broke the drought and knotted the game at 15. Ohio State responded quickly with a jumper and a layup in the paint to retake the lead. Khiana Johnson made her way to the free throw line and drained both of her attempts to cut the deficit back to two. Back-to-back three-pointers from Johnson and Lindenfeld kept the game within just one point. Before the half could come to a close the Buckeyes would score five more times, but Johnson's jumper beat the buzzer with only four seconds remaining to bring the Highlanders within five.

Ohio State scored the opening pair of points but Radford made their way to the charity stripe three consecutive times to start the third. After falling into a small hole, Johnson scored in back-to-back possessions in addition to Rachel LaLonde's jumper to bring the deficit to single digits. Makaila Wilson came alive down the stretch, posting her first points via a jumper in the paint inside the two-minute mark. That would be the last basket of the quarter for either team.

A red-hot Lindenfeld returned to the court and wasted no time knocking down her fifth three-ball of the game. Rainford and Johnson also notched trips to the free throw line, and were followed by back-to-back Wilson three-pointers. Amele Ngwafang and Wilson rounded out the scoring for the Highlanders down the stretch with Wilson's three coming with only 30 seconds remaining in the game.

Ohio State made 11 baskets in the final quarter to aid them in putting distance between themselves and Radford. The Buckeyes had three players score 10 or more points, with Juhasz Dorka leading the charge with a near double-double of 21 points and six rebounds.

TERRIFIC TINA
Lindenfeld returned to the starting lineup and has now scored 10-plus points three times this season, marking another career high today with 15 points. She only missed once from the floor going 5-for-6 there but did not miss a beat from deep. Through her 37 minutes played, she was a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the arc to set career highs in all of these categories.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Joining Lindenfeld with 10-plus points were Johnson and Wilson. Johnson was a mainstay at the charity strip going 6-for-8 for a total of 16 points, with five assists, and four rebounds. Wilson tied her career high in field goals made at five and was just one-point shy from tying her career high in three-pointers made. She did play a season high in minutes at 26 and scored a season high 14 points.
