HIGHLANDER OUTFIELDER ADAM WHITACRE NAMED BIG SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Radford redshirt-junior outfielder Adam Whitacre (Stephens City, Va.) has been named the Big South Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
 
Whitacre closed out a four-game weekend series 6-for-12 with a double, a triple and pair of home runs, as he recorded the highest slugging percentage in the league last week with a 1.250 mark. The redshirt-junior posted three two-hit performances, capped off by a 2-for-3 effort with a double, a homer, a stolen base and five RBI in Radford's 13-7 series finale win over Harvard on Sunday.
 
Whitacre leads the Highlanders with a .342 batting average as he is 13-for-38 in nine starts this season. He also paces the squad in home runs (4), total bases (28) and slugging percentage (.737). In addition, he is tied for the team-lead with four stolen bases.  

The Highlanders will be back in action when the host UMass-Lowell on Tuesday and Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
