HIGHLANDERS LOOK TO AVENGE LONE CONFERENCE LOSS AGAINST HAMPTON ON WEDNESDAY EVENING

LAST TIME OUT
Radford enjoyed a historic Senior Day as the Highlanders captured the 2018-2019 Big South regular season championship with a 55-43 victory over USC Upstate, on Saturday afternoon at the Dedmon Center. The victory extended Radford's winning streak to 13 games (program-record) and the squad improved to 21-6 (15-1 Big South).  The win also means that Radford will have home-court advantage throughout the entire Big South Tournament, which will get underway for the Highlanders on Thursday, March 14 at the Dedmon Center.  Radford will host a pair of quarterfinal games that evening.
 
HIGHLANDER MISCELLANEOUS
The Highlanders will be the No. 1 seed in the Big South Tournament for the sixth time in their history... Radford continues to be one of the nation's top defensive squads in the country as they are yielding just 55.5 points per game, which is tied for 17th in the country. The Highlanders are also 5th in the nation in 3-pt field goal defense (25 percent) and 7th in overall field goal percentage defense (34.6 percent) ...Rivers continues to lead the Big South in rebounding at 10.0 per game and is 35th in the NCAA in the category…She is ninth all-time at Radford with 781 caroms...Destinee Walker is now 8th on Radford's all-time scoring list with 1,241 points…Nunley is averaging a league-high 11.4 rpg. in Big South contests...Head Coach Mike McGuire is 104-51 (.671) over the last five seasons after going 7-23 during his first season.
 
LAST MEETING
The Highlanders suffered their lone Big South Conference defeat of the season as they fell to the Hampton Pirates, 68-54, on January 10 at the Hampton Convocation Center.  Redshirt junior center Sydney Nunley posted her then fifth straight double-double as she matched her career-high with 22 points and pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds. Senior guard/forward Destinee Walker and junior guard Khiana Johnson (3 steals) were also in double-figures with 10 points each.  Hampton hit 29-of-53 field goal attempts for a 54.7 percent clip, including 6-of-15 (40 percent) from behind the arc while the Highlanders were just 20-for-62 (32.3 percent) overall. Radford also misfired on 17-of-22 attempts from 3-point territory for a 22.7 percent clip...Pirates' sophomore guard Mahaley Holit scored a game-high 32 points on 13-of-19 shooting and added nine boards and nine assists in 40 minutes. 
 
PIRATE UPDATE
The Pirates lost a 104-98 decision against High Point on Saturday...Laren Vanarsdale scored a season-high 33 points...Ashley Bates (17.1 ppg.) and Vanarsdale (16.4 ppg.) are 1st and 3rd respectively in the league in scoring.
