- The Radford women's track & field team fought through some inclement weather to shine at the Gamecock Invitational at the Sheila and Morris Cregger Track last Saturday.
- Highlander phenom and two-time Big South Track Athlete of the Week La'Tisha Chambers took the headlines with a new school record in the 100-meter dash. The Covington, Va. native posted a lightning-fast time of 11.78 seconds to pass Amelia Reynolds' previous record of 11.87 seconds from last season. The time is the third-fastest in the Big South this season as well.
- Freshman Kayland Bond got the meet started on the right foot with a personal record in the 1,500 meters, crossing the finish line in 4:41.45 to place 11th out of 61. Fellow freshman Chloe Phillips also had a PR in the event.
- Over in the 100-meter hurdles, freshman Emilie Miller posted a PR of 14.29 seconds and later in the day freshman Denisha Hoosier ran a new PR in the 200-meter dash.
- Junior Kierra Henderson had a great day in the long jump, recording back-to-back personal records. She began with a leap of 5.46 meters (17'11") but topped herself with a final mark of 5.49 meters (18'0.25"), moving her into third place on the Big South leader boards for the 2019 season.
- With another strong showing in a field event, sophomore Taylor Tinsley took fourth overall in the high jump. She cleared the opening bar on her first attempt to set a new PR of 1.62 meters (5'5.75").
- Continuing to show improvement throughout the year, the 4x100Â meter relay team of Chambers, Henderson, Miller and Hoosier ran a season-best of 46.36 seconds.

- While the bulk of the team heads south to Durham, Radford's throwers will head north on I-81 to James Madison

- The Highlanders split with Longwood in doubleheader action on Wednesday afternoon at Radford Softball Stadium. The Lancers took the first game, 3-2, and the Highlanders bounced back to pick up the second, 4-2.
- Highlanders came out on the losing end in a pitcher's duel in game one of the day. Radford held a 2-1 advantage from the bottom of the fourth to the final inning of the game but could not hold on.
- The Highlanders only needed three hits in the second game. They came from Sydney Fisher, Talia Douglas and Maggie Rowe. Fisher drove in two and Douglas drove in a pair. Jessie Marvin pitched well as she only allowed two runs on seven hits in a winning effort.
- Fisher is currently second in the Big South with a .407 batting average and leads the league with 63 hits. She is also sixth in on base percentage (.443) and is tied for seventh in runs scored (33).
- Hunter Mundy is tied for fourth on the circuit with 10 home runs and is seventh in slugging percentage (.604).
- Destiny Freeman ranks seventh in RBI's (33) and is tied with Mundy with 10 homers.
- Jessie Marvin is eighth in the conference in ERA (3.22) and is sixth with 132.2 innings pitched.
- Kayla Huffman is tied for 9th in the league with nine wins and is also ninth in ERA (3.29)
- Taylor Warrick leads Hampton with a .390 batting average, which is good for fourth in the league. She is also third in slugging (.724) and on base percentage (.467).
- Emily Workman is third in the Big South with a 1.92 ERA and Allie Hotetz is 10th (3.35).

- Radford returns to action after a 6-3 defeat against Virginia on Tuesday evening.Â
- Reliever Ryan Bywaters fanned two batters and did not allow a run in 1.1 innings of relief. Brandon Feathers recorded a perfect eighth inning.
- Catcher Will Harless drilled his third homer of the season with a long drive to left field. Left fielder Adam Whitacre went 2-for-4 (double) and right fielder Andrew Szamski collected a hit and a walk. Â
- Matt Roth made several terrific plays at the hot-corner, including a diving stop in the seventh inning.
- Szamski continues to lead the Big South with a .370 batting average and hits (51). He is also second in RBI's (39) and is third in slugging (.587).
- First baseman Spencer Horwitz is second in the league in walks (27) and is ninth in runs scored (30).
- LHP Zack Ridgely is ninth on the circuit with a 3.20 ERA
- Longwood has dropped four straight and 14 of their last 16 contests.
- Hunter Gilliam is batting a team-high .291 and also paces the squad in homers (4) and RBI's (19).
- Tyler Morgan has a 3.93 ERA and has fanned 65 batters in 52.2 innings.

- Saturday's showdown with Campbell may be the biggest game in the young history of the program. With both teams currently 2-3 in conference play, the winner will earn a berth to the Big South Tournament which will be hosted by the No. 1 overall seed
- A total of 12 seniors will be recognized in a pregame Senior Day ceremony: Callie Bonnel, Juliette Ruland, Shelby Merchant, Avery Reding, Emma Rogers, Adrian Rius, Emily Kowalik, Michaela Petersen, Hannah Rosen, Amanda Mirabile (Manager), Jessie Kallish (Manager) and Allison Brennan (Manager)
- A 7-2 run over the final 15 minutes allowed Winthrop to complete a comeback and the Radford women's lacrosse team fell, 16-14, at Eagle Field on Wednesday.
- Seniors Adrian Rius and Emma Rogers were catalysts on the offensive side of the ball, scoring five goals each. Shield finished with a pair of goals while seniors Callie Bonnel and Juliette Ruland contributed one goal each as well.
- Freshman defender Katie Bendrick stepped up once again with a team-high six draw control wins while junior midfielder Brittany Rinaldi forced a team-high four turnovers. Fouls really hurt the Highlanders though as they were called for 28 compared to just 10 for Winthrop.
- Rogers ranks seventh in the Big South in goals per game (2.38) while Rius is right behind her in eighth (2.31). Rogers is also seventh in assists per game (1.23).
- Bendrick is third in the league with 2.77 ground balls per game.
- Campbell's Annie Pazulski leads the circuit with 1.86 assists per game and is tied for sixth in points per game (3.50).
- Goalie Lexie Patton is second in saves per game (8.93) and save percentage (.433).
