RADFORD REVEALS 2019 VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE

RADFORD, Va. – Radford Volleyball Head Coach Marci Byers and new assistant coach Kevin Cardoza have put together an exciting schedule for the 2019 season which features four early-season tournaments including the first home tournament since 2016.

The Highlanders kick off their fall campaign with the Houston Baptist Volleyball Tournament on Aug. 30 and 31. They will take on the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Houston Baptist on the first day before facing Bethune-Cookman on day two.

From there, Radford comes home to host a tournament which will include Fordham, Norfolk State, Rider and Toledo. Held in the Dedmon Center, the tournament will have four matches on Friday, Sept. 6 and four matches on Saturday, Sept. 7 with each program playing in three of those matches.

Radford then heads to Philadelphia for the Temple Volleyball Tournament on Sept. 13 and 14. The Highlanders will go head-to-head with Temple first and then go up against Lehigh and Columbia.

The final tournament of the regular season will be the Carolina Classic, hosted by the North Carolina Tar Heels. Radford will go up against Colgate, VCU and UNC over the course of the two-day tournament which is slated for Sept. 20 and 21.

Yet another challenging Big South Conference slate begins on Saturday, Sept. 28 at High Point, the team Radford has faced in the title game in back-to-back years. October then rolls in with a pair of home games against Campbell on Friday, Oct. 4 and Hampton on Saturday, Oct. 5.

A stretch of four straight road games takes Radford to Charleston Southern (Oct. 11), Presbyterian (Oct. 12), Gardner-Webb (Oct. 18) and Winthrop (Oct. 19) before the team returns home to close out the month inside the Dedmon Center against USC Upstate (Oct. 25) and UNC Asheville (Oct. 26). The match against the Bulldogs will be Radford's annual Dig Pink game.

November arrives with another huge showdown between Radford and the High Point Panthers on the first of the month. The Highlanders then hit the road for the final time, going up against Hampton (Nov. 8) and Campbell (Nov. 9) before closing out the regular season at home with Presbyterian (Nov. 15) and Charleston Southern (Nov. 16) which will be Senior Day.

The 2019 Big South Tournament will be hosted by Winthrop between Friday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 24 with game times still to be determined.

Radford will be in search of its second Big South title in the last three seasons. The Highlanders have won at least 22 games in each of the last three seasons, going a combined 71-18 in that time.
