WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTCHES 1-0 SHUTOUT OVER VMI

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Radford (4-1) women's soccer team battled in-state foe VMI (1-2) on Thursday and continued their winnings ways with a 1-0 victory over the Keydets at Patchin Field.

Junior transfer, Brianna Oliver netted her first goal as a Highlander in the 22nd minute to aid in the team's triumph. Offensively, Radford maintained their aggressive plan of attack to end the contest with 20 total shots and nine on goal. The Highlanders made the Keydets' goalie, Noelle Heilpern, work to save eight would be goals.

VMI didn't see much of its side of the field as Radford's defense stifled any and all offensive plans. The Keydets were held to only 11 shots with only a few on goal, despite opening the game with the first shot of the evening.

Nicole Ray led the squad with four shots, while Gabi Paupst tallied three of her own. Two of Paupst's shots landed on frame. The reigning Big South Freshman of the Week, Alexeis Kirnos, had two shots on goal with three total shots. Courtenay Kaplan played all 90 minutes for the first time this season and picked up her fourth win of the season with three saves.

STAT OF THE MATCH
Radford has picked up four victories and has not allowed a goal in each win on the young season.
