Men’s Basketball Resumes Conference Play at Presbyterian

RADFORD, Va. – After an enjoyable holiday season, the Radford men's basketball team hits the hardwood and resumes conference play on Wednesday and Thursday at Presbyterian. Wednesday's game is set to begin at 5 p.m., and Thursday's will start at 3 p.m.
 
After a three-game winning streak, the Highlanders were set back by SEC foe, Vanderbilt on Dec. 19th. Chyree Walker and Shaquan Jules combined for over half of Radford points in the 59-50 loss. Walker went 7-of-9 from the floor with the game's only 3-pointer in a career-high 15-point performance. Jules posted a season-best 12 points as well.
 
As a team, the Highlanders are only allowing 61.5 points per game, which ranks 36th in the NCAA and first in the Big South. Radford also leads the league in total rebounds and is just four shy of 300. The Highlanders have made a league-leading 110 free throws and rank inside the top 100 in all of college basketball.
 
Walker has three double-digit rebounding games and sits atop the Big South with 58 rebounds this season. He ranks fourth in the Big South with 7.2 boards per outing. Fah'Mir Ali leads the team with 10.3 points per game. He's averaging 13.0 points through the first two Big South games this season.
 
Presbyterian (2-2) will begin Big South play against Radford because the Gardner-Webb series on Dec. 9-10, was postponed. PC is one of three league teams not to have played a conference game this season.
 
For the Blue Hose, youth is a theme for the 2020-21 season. Gone from last year is 66 percent of the scoring, 59 percent of the rebounding, and 66 percent of the assist getters. However, the newcomers have helped Presbyterian so far in the early season.
 
Rayshon Harrison has been honored as Big South Freshman of the Week three times this season. He leads the team and all Big South freshmen with 18.0 points per game. He tallied 20 points last time out against The Citadel. In the 82-94 road win, sophomore Owen McCormack recording his first double-double with career highs of 19 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Radford has a hefty, 18-7, lead all-time against Presbyterian. The Highlanders are 7-4 in Clinton, S.C. Radford has won 13 of the last 15 meetings, including eight in a row.
