HUDSON NAMED BIG SOUTH RELIEF PITCHER OF THE WEEK

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After recording saves in each of his first two appearances of the 2020 season, Radford redshirt sophomore pitcher Bruce Hudson has been named the Big South Conference Relief Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Hudson, a 2020 NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List member, threw a combined 3.0 scoreless innings in two games against N.C. Central, allowing just one hit while striking out a pair to earn his first two saves of the season. The Washington, D.C., native retired each of the last eight hitters he faced, including all five batters he saw in Sunday's series finale.

Hudson allowed a single to the first batter he faced during the weekend, but recovered to retire the next three batters on Saturday for his first save of the season. He then entered Sunday's game with a runner on first and proceeded to force a double-play, before retiring the next four batters in order for his second save in as many days.

The award is Hudson's first weekly honor of the season and first weekly honor for any Highlander this season.

Radford returns to action on Tuesday afternoon with its first midweek game of the season, a 4 p.m. tilt at former Big South foe Liberty.
