CARLIK JONES EARNS VASID ALL-STATE HONORS

RADFORD, Va. – Carlik Jones was selected as a Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) First Team All-State Member on Friday afternoon.

Jones, who was already named a Lute Olson and Lou Henson All-American, along with a NABC First Team All-District member, helped carry Radford to its second consecutive regular season title. He ended the year ranked 28th in the country averaging 20.0 points per game.

He was the only player in the nation to average at least 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per outing – one of 16 players in Division I men's basketball to do so since the 1996-97 season. He also closed out the season shooting 48.8 percent from the floor and 40.9 percent from beyond the arc.

The Big South Player of the Year accumulated 18 20-point games, and three of those included 30-point outings. Jones became the seventh player in conference history to reach 1,000+ points and 400+ rebounds and assists in a career. The Cincinnati, Ohio native notched 1,000 career points and ranks eighth in program history with 1,552 points.

It's the first time Jones received VaSID recognition and he is the first player to earn first team honors since Art Parakhouski in 2008-09.

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
