Highlanders Head to Hampton for Commonwealth Clash

RADFORD, Va. – Fresh off its second win in the last three games, the Radford women's basketball team begins a three-game road trip Tuesday evening when it takes on the Hampton Pirates at 6 p.m.
 
The Highlanders are seeking their second straight win and second straight against Hampton as well. Radford held the Big South's leading scorer, Nadiria Evans, scoreless in the second half on Saturday on its way to a 74-53 win over the Bulldogs.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Taiye Johnson scored a career-high 16 points in Saturday's win, with 10 of those coming in the second half. Tina Lindenfeld had 13 and Bryonna McClean added 10 in a balanced effort for the Highlanders. Radford had five different players record seven or more points and five with five or more rebounds, led by Ashley Tudor's eight boards. Radford also got a career-high 25 points and eight rebounds from Ariel Williams in the first game of the series against the Bulldogs on Friday, a close 84-80 loss. Williams had six rebounds and a career-high seven assists in Saturday's win
 
This game is one of two scheduled games that will make up for the previously scheduled series on January 4-5, which was postponed.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Hampton enters Tuesday's game 3-7 overall and 3-5 in Big South play. This will be the Pirates' fifth straigth home game, having split home series against both USC Upstate and Winthrop.
 
Preseason all-conference selection Nylah Young leads Hampton in scoring and rebounding at 21.1 points and 6.1 boards per game. Victoria Mason and Victoria Davis add 7.1 and 6.7 points per game, respectively.
 
UP NEXT
Radford heads to Spartanburg for a two-game series against USC Upstate beginning Friday.
