Highlanders Cruise to Senior Day Victory

RADFORD, VA. – The Radford women's soccer team celebrated senior day with a 3-0 victory over Presbyterian Saturday afternoon.

Before play got started, the Highlanders honored seven well-decorated seniors with a pre-game ceremony. Lauren Seedlock, Emily Cardoso, Lily McLane, Brianna Oliver, Reese Degnan, Kayla Thomas and Izzy Armstrong were all among those honored before kickoff.

The scoring got started in the 33rd minute of the match for the Highlanders after pressuring the Blue Hose consistently. Maevyn Jones scored the first goal of the day for Radford after Kat Parris found her in the middle of the box with no defenders between her and the net. Radford struck again in the 43rd minute when Parris recorded her eleventh goal of the season after forcing her way through multiple defenders to get off a strong shot on goal.

With a 2-0 lead headed into halftime, Radford came out of the half still aggressive. The senior Brianna Oliver scored the third and final goal of the match with Katie Oliver providing the assist.

KEY STATS
  • The Highlanders out-shot Presbyterian 26-6 while limiting the Blue Hose to just five total shots on goal. Radford also collected seven more corners than their opponent.
  • Parris continues to produce points for the Highlanders as her three tonight led to two goals. Parris now has 28 points, three away from entering the single-season top ten list.
  • The second half offense scored once again tonight for Radford as they now have 29 second half goals on the season which ranks sixth-most in program history. No program has broken the top five since 1993, and the Highlanders only need one more to enter the top five.
  • Over the last three games combined, Radford's opponents have only found seven shots on goal which has helped the defense post four straight shutouts.
  • Tonight's win boosts the team's conference record to 4-3-1 with two games remaining in the regular season. The team now sits in the top five, but need a top four seed to host a Big South tournament game.
