KEY STORYLINES
Prior to the start of Saturday's match, the Big South will be presenting the six Highlanders who received conference awards as announced by the Big South yesterday. Highlighting the award winners were Kayla Thomas winning her third straight Defensive Player of the Year award and Kat Parris claiming Freshman of the Year. Three Highlanders were named to first team all-conference (Parris, Thomas and Brianna Oliver), two Highlanders were named to second team all-conference (Lauren Seedlock and Lily McLane) and Kennedy Dunnings represented the team on the honorable mention list.

The second half offense has been historic for the Highlanders this season. Radford has scored 32 goals in the second half which currently ranks tied for third in the program record book. Only one other team this century has made it into the top-ten list of this category. It will be a stat to keep in mind even though when these two teams last faced-off, Radford did all their scoring in the first half of a 2-0 victory.

The phrase "defense wins championships" is key for Radford. Over their six-game winning streak the team has held opponents scoreless (540 total minutes). The starting back line of Kayla Thomas, Kennedy Dunnings, and Saleena Lynch have helped limit opponents to just 14 shots on goal over the last six games. Goalkeeper Lauren Seedlock shouldn't be slept on either, as she leads the Big South in goals against average and shutouts.

WHAT IF...?
  • The Fall 2021 squad will gain sole possession of third in the program rankings of second half goals with any score in the second half Saturday. To reach second is a tall task but not undoable, as the team would need three goals to reach the mark of 35.
  • If Lily McLane records one assist she will move into the top-five of the career record for assists with 22.
  • If Kat Parris gets two points in tomorrow's match, she will total 35 on the season and move into the top-five of the single-season record for points.
  • If Radford defeats Charleston Southern, that will move their winning streak to seven games which would tie for the sixth-longest streak in program history.
  • If Radford defeats Charleston Southern on Saturday, the next target would be a trip to Buies Creek to take on the top seeded Fighting Camels of Campbell.
