RADFORD, Va. - Cindy Chace '86 has been selected as the keynote speaker for the inaugural "Champion Her Future" Leadership Dinner, which will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 6 p.m. in the Dedmon Center's Sport Performance facility.
Prior to her retirement in 2020, Chace had been a director of sales for the government sector at United Parcel Service (UPS) for 34 years. As a part of UPS' Congressional awareness program, she worked with elected officials representing South Florida. Chace also served as a UPS representative on the Corporate Board of Advisors for the Cuban American National Council. She previously served on the President's Advisory Council at Radford University.
Chace is a director and founding chair of the Florida-based nonprofit Go for the Greens Foundation Inc, where she serves on the sponsorship, golf, mentorship, logistics and marketing committees. She also is co-founder and co-chair of the Go for the Greens conference. Since 2019, Chace has made it possible for two Radford women's basketball players to attend the conference.
Chace works with business organizations focused on minorities and women. Her service to these organizations was recognized by The International Alliance for Women, which honored her as a Leader in Global Development, and the National Association of Women Business Owners awarded her National Corporate Partner of the Year. She also was recognized with the Corporate Advocate Award from the Women's Business Enterprise Hall of Fame.
Chace is a former Radford student-athlete. She was a member of the women's basketball team from 1983-1986. Radford University Athletics is excited that Chace will share her passion for inspiring and advancing women in their sports and professions at the inaugural "Champion Her Future" Leadership Dinner, an event that will include a panel Q&A session, dinner and networking social.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to come back to Radford University and speak to our future leaders of tomorrow as they embark upon their new endeavors in life," said Chace. "As a former student-athlete at Radford, I have been provided with many pertinent skill sets that have enriched my life and allowed to me explore several successful experiences, both professionally and personally. I am confident that this program will encourage other Radford alumni to come back to Radford and 'give back' to the institution that provided us with an excellent education and myriad experiences during our collegiate years."
The "Champion Her Future" Leadership Dinner and the Women's Sports Leadership Fund were created with a focus on scholarship support, mentorship programming, and leadership development. Through this Women's Sports Leadership initiative, Radford's goal is to engage and activate a network of Highlanders who engage current female student-athletes through professional and personal development and mentorship opportunities while also delivering resources that will help ensure future success in competition and beyond for Highlander women's sports programs.
"Not only is this event an exciting way for alumnae and supporters to stay connected and give back, it is an outstanding opportunity for our female student-athletes to be educated, empowered and supported by women who have been in their shoes and truly champion our women's sport programs," said Director of Athletics
Robert Lineburg.
The "Champion Her Future" Leadership Dinner is open to the Radford community and general public.
