Radford to Host League-Leading High Point

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford (5-8, 5-6 BSC) women's basketball team returns home to the Dedmon Center to take on High Point (14-5, 12-2 BSC) in a series of games on Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.

The Highlanders will be looking to get back into the win column after being on a three-game winning streak then falling to the Eagles in overtime 59-63 on Saturday, Feb. 6. Radford and High Point have faced off a total of 52 times, dating back to their initial meeting in 1980. The Panthers lead the all-time series 23-28.

Freshmen Foursome
The freshmen quartet of Danielle Montelbano, Ashley Tudor, Kyanna Morgan, and Destinee Marshall have combined to score a total of 204 of the Highlanders' points so far this season.

Linden(Feld) a Hand
Senior Tina Lindenfeld scored the first points for the Highlanders on several occasions. She leads the team in total points, field goals made, 3-point field goals made, 3-point field goals made per game, and minutes played.

Bryonna McClean and Tudor average at least one steal per game. The duo has double digit steals on the season with 12 and 11 respectively.

Nationally Ranked

Tina Lindenfeld ranks 123rd nationally in three-point field goals per game and third in the Big South. Makaila Wilson is 145th and seventh in the same category. Lindenfeld is 105th in three-point field-goal percentage and third in the conference. In the same category, Wilson is 119th nationally and fifth in the conference.

Last Time Out
Back on February 22, 2020, Radford (13-12, 11-5 BSC) fell to High Point (12-13, 10-6 BSC) in the waning minutes as the Panthers sealed the season series in the 64-63 win over the Highlanders in the Dedmon Center.

The teams would go point-for-point down to the final seconds of the game where a layup put the game at 62-61, Radford. High Point's next baskets put them ahead of the home team by two with only 17 seconds left to play. After a Highlander timeout, a Radford offensive rebound turned and foul setup free throws with only three seconds left on the clock.

The split trip saw the second shot rim out into the hands of a Highlander who was unable to get a decent look at the basket as her shot was just off the mark.

This game had seven ties and 12 different lead changes, with Radford's biggest margin being 10 points to High Point's five points.

Scouting the Opponent
High Point is the number one team in the Big South Conference and are currently riding a two-game win streak after a pair of series against Presbyterian and Charleston Southern. Prior to game two at PC, the Panthers were riding a 10-game win streak until the Blue Hose were able to steal game two 65-56 to split the season series.

The Panthers went down to Charleston, S.C. and swept the Buccaneers 88-65 and 71-54. High Point then proceeded to sweep the conference weekly awards with Skyler Curran tabbed as Player of the Week and Claire Wyatt as Freshman of the Week. Curran moved into 11th place in High Point's Division I scoring list with 1,050 career points over the weekend. Wyatt balled out on her birthday with a career-high in points (18), three-pointers made (4) and assists (4) while leading the team in scoring in Friday's contest.
