Radford Falls to High Point in Series Finale

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford (5-10, 5-8 BSC) women's basketball team dropped the season series finale versus High Point (16-5, 14-2 BSC) on Saturday afternoon, in a 79-58 decision. On the back of a career-defining performance from freshman guard Danielle Montelbano.
The opening stanza mimicked that of yesterdays with the Panthers able to tally 30 points and keeping the Highlanders to nine. High Point stretch the differential to 21-15 in the second period, entering the half leading Radford 51-24.
The Highlanders came out of intermission with grit that paralleled game one. Radford was able to distribute the ball with more efficiency in the third period as five different players logged points. The Highlanders' field goal percentage was the highest of the contest at 42.9 percent and 100 percent from the charity stripe.
In the final period of play, the Panthers were outscored 17-15 by the home team just like the previous period of 17-13. Rachel LaLonde and Danielle Montelbano paced the Radford offense with five points in the fourth period and combined for a total of four rebounds as well.
High Point had a pair notch 20 points or more in Claire Wyatt and Skyler Curran.
Highlander Highlight
Danielle Montelbano established career-highs in every category except assists and blocks. Her new high in points is 15, minutes is 22, field goals made at three, three-point field goals made at two, five free throws made, and several rebounds.
