Highlanders Ready for Game Two Against Pirates

HAMPTON, Va. – The Radford (5-10, 5-8 BSC) women's basketball team readies for the season series finale against Hampton (4-8, 4-6 BSC) on Tuesday, February 16 at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
 
Currently, the Highlanders are on a three-game losing streak after splitting the series with the Eagles and being swept by the Panthers of High Point. 
 
Freshmen Foursome
The freshmen quartet of Danielle Montelbano, Ashley Tudor, Kyanna Morgan, and Destinee Marshall have combined to score a total of 239 of the Highlanders' points so far this season. Coming off, Montelbano's career-high performance of 15-points vs. High Point.
 
Linden(feld) a Hand
Senior Tina Lindenfeld scored the first points for the Highlanders on several occasions. She leads the team in total points, 3-point field goals made, 3-point field goals made per game, and minutes played. 
 
Nationally Ranked
Rachel LaLonde ranks 211th nationally in blocked shots per game and fifth in the conference. Tina Lindenfeld is 143rd in three-point field goals made (seventh in conference), 113th in three-point field goals made per game (fifth in the conference), and 75th in three-point field-goal percentage (second in conference). Makaila Wilson is 241st in three-point field goals per game and ninth in conference.
 
Last Time Out 
Back on March 7, 2020, the Highlanders defeated the Pirates on Senior Day inside the Dedmon center. The victory not only put the season series at 1-1 but also secured the two seed in the Big South Women's Basketball Tournament. 
Hampton was led by Timmons with 23-points, but had a total of three finish the game in double-digits. Nylah Young and Dlayla Chakolis combined for 25-points and 13 rebounds.
 
Radford honored their three seniors in Jen Falconer, Sydney Nunley, and Johnson prior to tip-off. The trio combined for 31-points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists.
 
Radford notched 34-points in the paint with the bench providing a solid 18-points. 
 
Scouting the Opponent
Hampton is currently on a one-game losing streak after traveling to Asheville, N.C. and falling to the Bulldogs 69-78.  The Pirates are 4-8 overall with 4-6 in Big South play. 
 
They'll be looking to close out the season series against the Highlanders which would give them their first conference series sweep of the 2020-21 year. 
 
Up Next
Radford returns to the Dedmon Center for a series versus Charleston Southern on Friday, February 19th and Saturday, February 20th at 2 p.m.  Saturday's matchup will be Senior Day for Laney Corbin, Lindenfeld, and Ariel Williams.
