Men’s Basketball Adds Game Against Mount Aloysius College

RADFORD, Va. – Since the Big South conference play ended early for the Radford men's basketball team, the squad has picked up a home game against Mount Aloysius College on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
 
Radford (13-11, 12-6 Big South) dropped its last four outings – two against Winthrop and two against Gardner-Webb. Through the four-game stretch, Fah'Mir Ali has been a bright spot averaging 14.2 points per outing. He also hit a 3-pointer in each of the four games. He's fifth in the conference and leads all freshman with 3.6 assists per outing.
 
As a team, Radford is averaging 67.7 points per game and holding teams to 65.2 – a league-best. The Highlanders are shooting 45.5 percent from the floor. Radford leads the Big South in field goal percentage defense holding teams to just 41.6 percent.
 
The Highlanders have a 7.7 rebounding margin against opponents and lead the league in rebounding with 37.5. Chyree Walker leads the Big South with 7.9 boards per game. He and Lewis Djonkam are second and first, respectively, in the Big South offensive rebounds at 2.3 and 2.2.
 
Mount Aloysius College is a private Catholic college in Cresson, Pa. It was founded in 1853 and is conducted under the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy. The college is located on a 193-acre campus in the Allegheny Mountains.
 
The Mounties compete in the NCAA Division III in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC). Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the AMCC voted to cancel conference competition and forego the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The AMCC has allowed the individual schools to conduct their own, independent schedules. Mount Aloysius is committed to following all AMCC and NCAA guidelines concerning COVID-19 protocols and competition.
 
Last season Mount Aloysius finished with a 14-12 overall record and an 11-9 record in the AMCC. Wednesday's contest will be the Mounties first of their eight-game schedule.
 
This will be the first meeting between Radford and Mount Aloysius. It will also be the first-time Radford will be playing a non-Division I opponent in February since the 1983-84 season – the last season before it became a Big South member. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
