Highlanders Make Ready for Eagles

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Radford women's basketball team continues its road stint in South Carolina with a series of games against Winthrop beginning on Friday, February 5. Tipoff for both contests is set for 6 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN+.
 
The Highlanders are looking to extend their current two game winning streak after sweeping the Spartans of USC Upstate on Jan. 29 and 30. Precedent favors Radford with the all-time series 64-16 over the Eagles. 
 
FRESHMEN FOURSOME
The freshmen quartet of Danielle Montelbano, Ashley Tudor, Kyanna Morgan, and Destinee Marshall have combined to score a total of 174 of the Highlanders' points so far this season. 
 
LINDEN(FELD) A HAND
Senior Tina Lindenfeld scored the first points for the Highlanders on several occasions. She leds the team in points, field goals made, 3-point field goals made, and minutes played. 
 
DOUBLE TROUBLE 
Bryonna McClean and Tudor average at least one steal per game. The duo have double digit steals on the season with 12 and 11 respectively. 
 
NATIONALLY RANKED
Radford as a team cracks the top-100 teams in fewest fouls (98) and three-point field goal defense (37). Rachel LaLonde is 216th nationally in blocked shots and sixth in the conference. Makaila Wilson is 193rd in three-point field goals per game and ninth in the conference. Lindenfeld is 132nd in the proceeding category and third in the conference, she is also 67th in three-point field goal percentage and fourth in the conference.
 
RADFORD RUNDOWN
The Highlanders were selected to finished the 2020-21 Radford won its first road game of the 2020-21 season Friday night at USC Upstate, as the Highlanders had lost their first five away from home prior to Friday's win. 
 
LAST TIME OUT 
Back on February 29, 2020 Radford flipped a 12-point deficit in a comeback 56-50 win over Winthrop for their sixth conference season series sweep of the 2019-20 season. 
 
The early goings were slow for Radford, who only notched six points to Winthrop's 11 in the first period. Winthrop's 9-0 run during the middle of the period gave them a double-digit lead. And, with their final pair of baskets the margin had grown to 12. The Eagles led 26-19 over the Highlanders at halftime.
 
The Highlanders opened the game shooting 17.65 percent from the floor to being 50 percent in the fourth. The Eagles had the hot-hand to start, shooting around 42.86 percent but were down to 28.57 percent in the final period of play.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Radford held USC Upstate 29.3 percent from the field Saturday afternoon with McClean scoring a team-high 11 points to lead the Highlanders past the Spartans in a wire-to-wire win, 54-45, inside the G.B. Hodge Center.
 
The win completed a series sweep for Radford, which won Friday's game by a 44-41 margin, and also marked the first time Radford earned back-to-back wins this season.
 
UP NEXT 
Radford returns home to the Dedmon Center for a two-game stint versus High Point on Friday, Feb. 12 at 2:00 p.m.
