  • The Highlanders will carry a little momentum into Tuesday's matchup after a series-evening win over Presbyterian on Saturday.
  • Radford scored 12 runs on 16 hits that included a 4-for-4 day from Straton Podaras and one home run shy of the cycle.
  • Podaras was named Big South Player of the Week after batting .615 with eight hits, six runs scored and slugged .846.
  • Longwood has an 8-10 record that includes a pair of conference series losses to Charleston Southern and Winthrop.
  • Hunter Gilliam leads the team with six doubles, three triples, one home run and 15 RBIs. He sits second on the team with a .348 batting average.
  • UNC Asheville has only won four of its 15 games this season. Despite a 3-7 Big South record, two of its wins came against Campbell for its first series victory this season.
  • Brandon Lankford leads the team with a .321 batting average and Justin Honeycutt has a 2.37 ERA with a 2-0 record.

  • After dropping the first five games last week – two included No. 16 Virginia Tech – the Highlanders bounced back to pick up its first Big South opening weekend series victory since 2016.
  • Radford saw a great pitching performance from Skyler DeHart that included her first two collegiate victories.
  • Destiny Freeman and Abby Wilson gave Radford an offensive lift with a combined 14 RBIs last week.
  • Freeman and Wilson have eight of the team's home runs this season and Talia Douglas is the only other Highlander with a multi-home run year.
  • UNCG (13-6) has won 13 of its last 15 games after starting the season 0-4 facing No. 13 Kentucky and Appalachian State.
  • Gardner-Webb has only won one game this season and it came against Toledo on March 13th. The Runnin' Bulldogs have lost eight in a row including three against Longwood most recently.

  • The Highlanders look to get back on track after dropping six straight sets against Winthrop.
  • Samantha Reitz and Hailey Flowers each had double-digit kills against the Eagles. Reitz led with 11 on Thursday night, while Flowers chipped in 10 on Friday.
  • Reitz has already surpassed the 100-kill mark and leads the team with 104. The senior setters each have over 100 with Maddie Lentz leading at 131.
  • Grace Green has 133 digs and 10 service aces – both team-highs and Kennedi Johnson has 44 blocks, leading the team.
  • USC Upstate has won four matches in a row after a 1-7 start. The most recent wins have come against Presbyterian and UNC Asheville.

 
 WOMEN'S SOCCER

  • Radford hasn't allowed a goal in the last 290 minutes of gameplay and have a 2-0-1 record in those games.
  • Most recently, the team blanked Charleston Southern, 2-0, on Sunday inside Cupp Stadium with goals from Brianna Oliver and Katie Oliver.
  • For K. Oliver, it was her first goal as a Highlander. Kayla Thomas took five shots and was credited for an assist in the match after playing a more offensive role.
  • USC Upstate has yet to win a game this season. They lost to Winthrop and Campbell and tied with Longwood. They've been outscored all year, 9-2.
  • High Point was off this weekend but enters with a 6-0 record and has outscored opponents 20-1.
 MEN'S SOCCER

  • After a week off, the Highlanders will be back in action hosting Presbyterian on Saturday.
  • Last time out, the Highlanders scored three goals in the first half and carried a 3-0 lead into the locker room.
  • Baye Djibril Faye notched two goals and tallied one assist in the game against Winthrop. He leads the team with three goals and seven points.
  • Presbyterian hasn't won a game in nearly a month and still has yet to pick up a Division I win this season.
  • Their best result came in a tie against Longwood on Feb. 28th. Since then, the Blue Hose have been outscored 15-2 in three games. Most recently, the Blue Hose fell to Campbell 8-0 on Saturday.

  • Radford played just one game last week at home against No. 14 Jacksonville and came up short in a 5-16 match. 
  • Lindsey Carroll had a hand in all five points the Highlanders scored Sunday recording one goal and adding four assists. Her four assists were the most she had in a game since she provided six at Liberty earlier this season.
  • Freshman Jessica Diorio was the Highlanders' leading scorer against Jacksonville Sunday scoring two of the team's five goals off three shots on goal. It was her third multi-goal game of the season.
  • Grace Gleason forced two turnovers and picked up seven ground balls against Jacksonville Sunday. Her seven ground balls are a single-game career high for her.
  • Virginia Tech is also coming off an overtime loss to Jacksonville and has currently lost four straight including a loss to the number one team in the country North Carolina.
  • William & Mary picked up a 16-12 win over Campbell this past weekend to push their record to even on the season, as two of their three wins have come against Big South teams.

 
 MEN'S TENNIS

  • Radford dropped a pair of close matches against good teams last week and the competition will not ease up with another three big matches this week.
  • Aditya Balsekar posted a 2-0 singles record on court six this week while facing Elon and William & Mary at home. He won both of his matches in straight sets and increased his singles win total to a team-high seven.
  • James Madison is on a three-match winning streak currently with wins against Mary Washington, Southern Virginia, and George Mason.
  • Gardner-Webb is off to a hot start in conference play this year with a 3-0 record and has won five of its last six matches. The Runnin' Bulldogs have struggled away from home, however, with a 2-5 record.
  • UNC Asheville is also currently perfect this season in conference play with a 2-0 record after picking up road victories against Campbell and Longwood this past weekend.

 
 WOMEN'S TENNIS

  • Radford is back at home for a Big South and non-conference match before finishing off the week on the road for another Big South match at UNC Asheville.
  • Last week Radford competed against Virginia Tech and Campbell. The Highlanders fell at Virginia Tech, but rebounded and picked up their first win against Campbell since 2012 in a 4-3 match.
  • Malin Falk picked up big wins for Radford last week, most notably against Campbell her doubles court was the deciding court and sealed a vital doubles point in a close 4-3 match. In singles play she was the clinching court in a 3-3 match, winning 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
  • Presbyterian has struggled in their non-conference slate this season but is a perfect 2-0 in the Big South with victories over Longwood and Gardner-Webb.
  • Davidson currently has wins over Presbyterian and Saint Jospeh's while struggling away from the home courts this season with a 1-5 record.
  • UNC Asheville is coming off back-to-back Big South victories this past weekend against Longwood and Campbell, pushing their conference record to 2-1. It'll be the Bulldogs first home conference match.

   
 MEN'S GOLF
 

at Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate - Sunday, March 28th - Tuesday, March 30th

  • Radford moves onto its third tournament of the season at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate, the third of six tournaments for the Highlanders this season.
  • Bryce Corbett was named Big South Freshman of the Week after the Highlanders last competition. He earned a top-10 finish with a three-round score of 4-under and carded three of Radford's lowest rounds.
  • Andrew Kennedy (75-71-75, +5) and Tyler Hull (75-75-71, +5) also tied for 32nd at the Seahawk Intercollegiate to round out the top-finishers.

 
 WOMEN'S GOLF
 

at Kingsmill Intercollegiate - Monday, March 29th - Tuesday, March 30th

  • Radford moves on to its fourth tournament of the season at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, the fourth of six tournaments for the Highlanders this season.
  • Radford's top performer last week was Sidney Walker (75-73-77, +12) finish tied for sixth overall in the tournament.
  • Natalie Welsh (79-80-75, +21) also finished within the top-20 overall competitors at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.
  • Riko Nagai recorded her first hole-in-one as a Highlander during day one of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate last week.
 WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD


at Winthrop Adidas Invitational - Friday, March 26th - Saturday, March 27th
at Adidas Raleigh Relays - Friday, March 26th

  • Radford opens up its outdoor slate of competition with two different events, with part of the team competing at the Winthrop Adidas Invitational and three runners have also been selected to compete at the Adidas Raleigh Relays hosted by N.C. State.
  • Rachel Millirons, Rachel Werking, and Chloe Wellings will represent the Highlanders at the Adidas Raleigh Relays in the 5000-meter race which is set to start around 5 p.m. on Friday.
  • The rest of the team will make their 2021 outdoor debut at the Winthrop Adidas Invitational which is set to take place between Friday and Saturday.
  • These two outdoor meets will be Radford's first outdoor competition since the 2019 season after the cancellation of the 2020 season.
