RADFORD, Va. – Welcome to the Radford Roundup, where fans can find out all the information they need on upcoming Radford Athletics events taking place between Monday May 10th through Monday May 17th.

  • The Highlanders are coming off a tough weekend after losing a series against Campbell.
  • David Bryant had a strong offensive weekend posting six hits which including a home run and triple while driving in two runs and scoring four runs himself.
  • Over the course of the weekend Straton Podaras caught seven total Campbell players attempting to steal. At the plate he totaled five hits, three runs, and one RBI.
  • Storm Mace made his first appearance as a Highlander in the series opener and recorded a strikeout while tossing two scoreless innings.
  • In the series finale Landon Higgerson also tossed two scoreless innings for Radford facing just one batter over the minimum.
  • Gardner-Webb has won three straight Big South series over the last couple of weeks with wins against Presbyterian, Winthrop, Charleston Southern, and UNC Asheville.
  • Charleston Southern is coming off the losing-end of a sweep against Winthrop with the their last series win coming in mid-April. The Buccaneers are just 5-10 away from their home field this season.

  • Radford won the series over Winthrop to clinch the final spot in the Big South Tournament.
  • Jessie Marvin was lights out in the circle and game one and Autumn Slemaker was clutch in game two with three RBIs and two home runs.
  • Talia Douglas was named Big South Player of the Week after tallying had 11 hits in the six games this week, including three doubles and one home run with seven RBIs. She tallied five of her 11 hits in the postseason-clinching series against Winthrop. She also slugged .895 and .636 through the six games.
  • Radford enters with a 37-44 record in the Big South Tournament, but is 4-4 in the Creasy era.
  • Campbell enters the Big South Tournament as the No. 1 seed and USC Upstate is the No. 2 seed, while Longwood finished as the No. 3 seed. Radford has a 2-7 record against the three teams. Five of the seven losses were by two runs or less.

  • The Highlanders are competing in the Big South Championships this week competing in various events across the three days competition.
  • All three days of competition are available to be watched on ESPN+.
  • Last week in the 100-meter hurdles, Maddie Wright ran a qualifying time good enough to advance herself to the finals. In the finals, Wright broke her lifetime record for the event with a time of 14.84 which placed her third overall. Wright's time also put her at ninth in the program record book.
  • On Monday competition will be primarily focused on the first half of the heptathlon event where Wright will represent the Highlanders. Rachel Millirons and MegAnne Gilmore will also finish the day in the 10000-meter event.
  • Tuesday will be a loaded day of competition for Radford. The Highlanders will compete in the second half of the heptathlon, long jump, 1500m, 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 100m, 800m, 200m, 400m, and the 3000m steeplechase events.
  • The final day of competition will see Highlanders competing in the high jump, 5000m, and the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
