Thomas and Oliver Earn VASID All-State Honors

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team picked up two Virginia Sports Information Directors University Division All-State team honors as announced Thursday afternoon. Kayla Thomas picked up first team honors as a defender while Brianna Oliver picked up second team honors as a forward.
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
Thomas makes her second appearance on the VASID all-state first team after she last picked up first team honors with two other Highlanders in 2019 and second team honors in 2018. Thomas started in all 11 games the Highlanders played in this season as a defender while totaling 917 minutes which ranked fourth on the team.
Thomas also helped contribute to seven shutouts this year while playing 90 minutes or more in six games. At season's end she was named Big South Defensive Player of the Year and first team all-conference for the second straight season.
Oliver makes her first ever appearance on the VASID all-state second team. Radford last had three players make the second team in 2018. She was Radford's top point-earner this season while competing in nine games for a total 551 minutes. Her season highlight came against USC Upstate where she scored a hat trick in a 6-0 win.
Throughout the season Oliver also scored a goal against Charleston Southern and notced two assists against UNC Asheville and Campbell. At the conclusion of the season she was named to Big South first team all-conference.
