Radford Volleyball Announces Fall 2021 Campaign

RADFORD, VA. – The Radford volleyball team announced their 28-game schedule Thursday morning featuring four road tournaments and 16 matches against Big South foes.

The 2021 fall season will look more normal than the previous 2021 spring season as the Highlanders are back in action the last week of August where they will head to Boone, N.C. for a tournament hosted by Appalachian State. Radford is currently set to open the season against UNC Greensboro on August 27th at 4 p.m. The following day features the first double-header of the season against Appalachian State (12:30 p.m.) and Eastern Kentucky (4 p.m.).

The Highlanders also currently have two tournaments scheduled to be hosted by Morehead State and Coastal Carolina. Opponents and times are still to be determined for these two tournaments.

The final tune-up before conference play will come in a tournament hosted by Old Dominion. Radford will face off with a duo of Commonwealth foes on September 17th where they will play Old Dominion (12 p.m.) and Norfolk State (4 p.m.). The next day Radford will finish the tournament with a match against Buffalo (10 a.m.), the first-ever meeting between the two squads.

With tournament play out of the way the Big South schedule kicks off with a pair of road challenges for the Highlanders at Gardner-Webb (Sept. 21) and Winthrop (Sept. 25). It will be the second straight season the Highlanders start the conference regular season against Gardner-Webb.

The wait for home volleyball back in the Dedmon Center won't have to wait much longer as the Highlanders are set to make their home debut against High Point (Oct. 1). Radford welcomes new Big South foe North Carolina A&T the following day to close out the first home series of the season.

Radford travels to Presbyterian (Oct. 8) and Charleston Southern (Oct. 9) before returning home once again to face USC Upstate (Oct. 15) and UNC Asheville (Oct. 16). A road visit to Hampton (Oct. 22) and Campbell (Oct. 23) will round out first-time games against conference foes in the season as the final six games of the year will be rematches.

Radford gets to finish the season primarily at home with four of their final six games in Dedmon. The Highlanders will welcome the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern (Oct. 29) and the Blue Hose of Presbyterian (Oct. 30) on Halloween weekend. The Highlanders final road trip of the season will be at High Point (Nov. 2) and North Carolina A&T (Nov. 5). The season finale will bring the Highlanders' first two opponents of the season Winthrop (Nov. 12) and Gardner-Webb (Nov. 13) back to the Dedmon Center.

The Big South Championship format is still to be determined but is currently set to be played between November 19th and 21st.
