RADFORD, Va. – Radford Athletics recently announced its inaugural "Champion Her Future" Leadership Dinner, set for Friday, Feb. 4, 2022 at 6 p.m. inside the Dedmon Center's Sport Performance facility. The agenda for the evening will include a keynote speaker, a panel Q&A session, dinner, and conclude with a networking social.
This event will not only recognize the many successes of women in athletics, but encourage all to support gender equity — and comes at the perfect time, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX on June 23, 2022. The passage of Title IX ensured women's equity in both education and athletics. This year also serves as the 50thanniversary of the women's basketball program at Radford University.
Crystal Hubbard will be moderating, while Cindy Chace will serve as the keynote speaker for this event- both, whom are Radford University alumna and former women's basketball players. Chace is currently a director and founding chair of the Florida-based nonprofit Go for the Greens Foundation Inc, where she serves on the sponsorship, golf, mentorship, logistics and marketing committees. She also is co-founder and co-chair of the Go for the Greens conference and works with business organizations focused on minorities and women.
Hubbard currently works in the Office of Advancement and University Relations as the Assistant Director of Annual Giving and is a Color Analyst and sideline reporter for Radford University Men's and Women's Basketball games.
Cindy will also serve as a panelist, along with Radford University alumna, Aisha Foy, who currently serves as the Director of Recruiting for women's basketball at the University of Kentucky; Jessie Foster, Radford City Councilwoman, and Dr. Angela Joyner, Radford University Chief of Staff. Our panelists will bring a wealth of knowledge and be able to share their diverse experiences and practical advice by answering questions directly from our student-athletes.
Throughout the dinner portion of the evening, and post-event, our student-athletes will have the opportunity to learn, network and converse with individuals not only dedicated to their success, but with former Radford University student-athletes that have been in their shoes, who can get them thinking about how their unique experiences as student-athletes can positively translate into their lives after graduation.
"Champion Her Future" and the Women's Sports Leadership Fund were created with a focus on scholarship support, mentorship programming, and leadership development. Through this Women's Sports Leadership initiative, our goal is to engage and activate a network of individuals who will assist in providing professional and personal development and mentorship opportunities for our female student-athletes, while also delivering resources for our 10 women's sport programs to ensure future success on and off the fields and courts of play.
