
Women’s Basketball Falls to Gardner-Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Radford Women's Basketball program fell to Gardner-Webb 99-62 Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs came into the meeting with the best offense in the Big South and it showed Saturday. The team burst out to a 24-11 lead in the first quarter and built that lead up to 48-26 at the half. Gardner-Webb did not let up throughout the rest of the game shooting over 45% and scoring half their points in the paint.
Bridget Birkhead was the Highlanders' highlight on the offensive end, scoring a season high 21 points thanks in part to eight made free throws which ties a high in made free throws by any Highlander in a single game this season. Rachel LaLonde led on the boards once again with seven rebounds while Destinee Marshall finished with a team-high four assists.

The Highlanders are back on the home court this Tuesday where they will host UNC Asheville. The Highlanders and Bulldogs opened up Big South play just over a month and a half ago against each other.
