MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – The Radford women's golf team hit some bumps in the second round, but made major strides in the third round to finish strong at the 2022 Rivertowne Invitational on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Jimenna Ramirez was undoubtedly the standout on the squad, posting a 78 (+6) in the second round and then a 73 (+1) in the third round. The Mexico native didn't record a birdie in the first round, but finished the week with five and ultimately placed T-27
th in the 90-golfer field.
After her stellar first round 74 yesterday,
Riko Nagai struggled in the second round and shot an uncharacteristic 89. To her credit, she bounced back quickly, sinking birdies on the 1
st, 2
nd, and 11
th holes during the third round to shoot a much better 79 (+7).
Similar to her fellow team captain,
Natalie Welsh brushed off a tough second round 86 (+12) to record her best performance of the tournament with a third round 78 (+6).
Redshirt sophomore
Niki Batac gave Radford one of its best 18-hole stretches of the tournament, tallying three birdies and avoiding anything worse than a bogey to shoot a 77 in the third round.
Jayde Dudley finished up the scoring for the Highlanders, finding a bright spot with a birdie on the Par 4 13
thhole during the second round.
