Women’s Golf Holds Steady, Remains in Second Going into Final Round of Stroke Play

FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Radford women's golf program rebounded from a tough start in the front nine to finish strong Tuesday and remain in second place after two of three rounds of stroke play at the Big South Championship.

Pacing the Highlanders' efforts in round two was Caroline Gilreath who posted the best second round by the Highlanders, and tied for eighth best among all individuals, at three-over. She totaled two birdies on the day, another team high, which came at the start of her day on hole seven and near the end at hole 16.

Mckenzie Weddle also continued her solid week for Radford at five-over, keeping pace with the league's best and still ranking eighth overall after two rounds. Weddle started well with four straight pars before struggles hit on holes five through eight. She regrouped well over the final nine holes of the day recording her lone birdie in round two on hole 10 and playing par on six of the eight remaining holes.

It was more of the same for Grace Addison who replicated her round one output with another five-over showing which places her 15th individually through two rounds. Macy Johnson would round out the scoring Highlanders for the second round as she also notched an impressive finish over the final nine holes. She would play par on seven of those nine, finishing at eight-over for the day.

The Highlanders were one of the few teams atop the standings after round one to remain in their same spot. Behind first place High Point, Radford moved two strokes ahead of Winthrop after being tied with the Eagles after the first round. UNC Asheville had a remarkable turn around from day one, shaving 12 strokes off their first-round total for one of the best second round showings to move into a tie for fourth with Longwood.
