Madiaw Niang Joins Radford Men's Basketball Program

RADFORD, Va. – Radford head men's basketball coach Darris Nichols has announced the addition of graduate transfer center Madiaw Niang. Niang will join the Highlanders for the 2022-23 season following four years at Florida Atlantic.

"Madiaw is an experienced forward that has been a part of some good teams and had some really good moments," said Nichols of the newcomer. "He's a high character guy who is skilled and has versatility in the post. We are looking forward to adding him to our team, university and our community."

The big man from Dakar, Senegal stands at 6-foot, 9-inches and weighs 230 pounds, giving the Highlanders an immediate presence around the rim this upcoming season.

Niang has made 97 appearances and 19 starts thus far in his collegiate career, collecting 242 points, 278 rebounds, 34 steals, and 30 blocks. His best season while playing for the Owls came in 2019-20 when he made 10 starts out of 31 games played and averaged career highs of 2.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

He majored in Communications Studies and was a member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
