Radford Volleyballs Bolsters 2022-23 Roster with Seven Transfers

RADFORD, Va. – Radford head volleyball coach Sherisa Livingston has announced the addition of seven talented transfers into to the Highlanders' program for the upcoming 2022 season: Sophie Paspal, Madison Monahan, Crystal Childs, Fiona Baker, Baylyn Johnson, Tori Britton and Grace Tulevech.

Sophie Paspal | OH/MB | Canton, Mich. | Hartford
Paspal is one of the youngest players in this transfer group, coming to Radford as a sophomore. She made an immediate impact for the Hawks as a freshman, tallying 47 kills across 62 sets played, including a career-high seven against UAlbany. The Michigan native added 24.0 total blocks and 18 digs as well. She enrolled at Radford this past spring, giving her a semester head start training with the team.

Madison Monahan | OH | Stony Point, N.Y. | St. Francis Brooklyn
Monahan makes her way to the New River Valley after a pair of seasons at St. Francis Brooklyn. Her time on the court was limited, but she showed flashes of strong play, namely an eight-kill, five-dig, four-block performance against Long Island on March 2nd, 2021. Prior to joining the Terriers, she spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons at Palm Beach State College where she put up big numbers. In 2019 alone, she tallied 194 kills and 207 digs.

Crystal Childs | OH | Alpharetta, Ga. | Clemson
Childs adds high-level experience and leadership to the Highlanders' roster from the moment she arrives on campus. The Clemson transfer served as a team captain during the 2021 season and has played 165 sets across 59 matches in her collegiate career. She recorded a career-best 55 kills as a freshman in 2018-19 and then upped her defensive game with 180 digs in her final two years as a Tigers.

Fiona Baker | S | Porta Westfalica, Germany | Florida Southwestern
Baker put up big numbers at Florida Southwestern and will now look to bring her skills to the New River Valley. She assisted her teammates 1,631 times over the last two seasons, adding 406 digs and 37 total blocks. The German did it in exactly 200 sets across 59 matches, giving her a strong resume as she makes the jump to the Division I level. In a fun connection to new teammate Sophie Paspal, Baker's mother, Bianca, played four seasons of collegiate volleyball at Hartford.

Baylyn Johnson | DS | Algona, Iowa | Iowa Central CC
Johnson averaged more than four digs per set over her last two seasons at Iowa Central Community College, racking up 1,103 career digs. The 5'4" Iowan also tallied 105 assists, 64 service aces, and 50.0 points in her 86 matches played. She, too, will now make the move to the Division I level and anchor the Highlanders in the center of the court.

Tori Britton | OH/MB | Moorestown, N.J. | Rhode Island
Britton was a major contributor to the Rhode Island women's volleyball program, starting 28 matches and playing in 96 sets last season. The dangerous outside hitter earned 135 kills with a team-leading .274 hitting percentage while getting it done on the defensive end with 59.0 total blocks and 33 digs. She comes from a family that has excelled in collegiate athletics as her father (Loyola) and brother (St. Martin's) played basketball and her sister played lacrosse at Bucknell.

Grace Tulevech | OH | Morehead City, N.C. | Lafayette
Tulevech racked up some very impressive numbers in her four years at Lafayette, headlined by 932 career kills. She led the team with 310 kills as a true freshman and followed it up with a career-high 356 during her sophomore campaign. Her career also features 170 total blocks, making her a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the net. Tulevech also got it done in the classroom, earning Patriot League Academic Honor Roll merits all four years.
