BURLINGTON, N.C. – The Radford women's golf team put together a stellar sub-300 first round, followed by a solid second round showing, to move into fifth place following 36 holes of the 2022 Elon Invitational.
 
Fifth-year senior Natalie Welsh stole the show to start the day, shooting an even-par 71 thanks to a trio of birdies in the first round. The Valencia, Pa. native then sunk three more birdies in the second round to shoot 76 and end the day in a tie for 10^th.
 
Both Jimenna Ramirez and Hannah Lindemann built upon their strong start to the season, tying for 20^ththrough two rounds. Ramirez shot 76-75 with a pair of birdies sprinkled in while Lindemann carded a 74-77 to bring her tally to 9-over par as well.
 
Jayde Dudley found the bottom of the cup for three birdies of her own en route to a first-round 77 and a second-round 76. She sits in a tie for 33^rd at 11-over par heading into the final day.
 
Rounding out the starting lineup was Niki Batac, who battled her way into a tie for 51^st. Batac struggled to make par on a number of holes, but overcame them best she could to the tune of 82-80 across two rounds.
 
Freshman Shea Smith made her collegiate competition debut on Monday, playing as an individual in the tournament. The debutant made a statement with an impressive 1-over par 71 in the first round but slide backwards a bit with an 80 in the second round. Nevertheless, she sits tied for 26^th on Monday night.
