GREENSBORO, N.C. – Hannah Lindemann's standout sophomore campaign continued on the first day of the Grandover Fall Classic on Monday as she shot 9-opver par and is tied for 8
th through two rounds.
Once again playing a stone's throw away from her hometown of Charlotte, Lindemann brought her A-game to combat a tough course on a windy day. She shot a 4-over par 76 in the first round and a 5-over par 77 in the second round, carding a trio of birdies along the way. Her 23 pars were tied for the third-most of any player in the 73-golfer field.
Natalie Welsh and
Jimenna Ramirez are next up on the individual leaderboard for the Highlanders, each tied for 37
th at +16. Welsh started strong with three birdies in the first round alone en route to a 77, but the second round proved even more difficult and her score dropped to 83 despite two more birdies.
Ramirez had similar scores in both rounds, shooting 79-81 while needing only one birdie to do so.
Jayde Dudley (57
th, +23) and
Shea Smith (T-58
th, +24) rounded out the scoring for Radford. No matter her score, it was an exciting day for Smith who earned her first career start representing the Highlanders after debuting as an individual last week.
As a team, Radford is in 9
th place at +60. Big South rival Longwood (+51) and Ohio (+54) are both well within reach in Tuesday's third round.
