SERIES HISTORY
The Highlanders and Spartans have faced each other ten times over the last 15 years but didn't start competing as Big South foes until the 2018-19 season. Radford had won seven-straight meetings coming into last season, but the Spartans broke that streak with a win inside the Dedmon Center last year. Radford and USC Upstate met just once last season and met twice at Spartanburg, S.C. in the 2020-21 season where the Highlanders took both games by a combined 12 points.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
USC Upstate comes into Wednesday's meeting with a win in their lone Big South game so far this season. The Spartans took down Charleston Southern in comeback fashion at home 59-57. Head Coach Jason Williams is in his first season with the Spartans and brings with him a roster of four freshmen but has some experience thanks to three post-grad transfers on the roster as well.

Isabella Graci, a transfer from Cleveland State, leads those post-grads transfers with an impressive 9.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Sophomore Rebekah Gordan leads the team overall with 9.9 points per game reaching double figures in points four times this season and 20 points once against Queens.

BLAKE SURGING
Vanessa Blake has been on fire as of late, averaging 10.8 points per game since joining the starting lineup five games ago. Blake has been as close to a sure shot down low as it gets, shooting 21 for 25 over that stretch as well. The sophomore has also crashed the boards with a whopping 20 offensive rebounds over that stretch accounting for 63% of her total rebounds.

SHOOTING HOT
Radford is one of the best teams in the Big South so far this season when it comes to overall and three-point shooting. 14 games into the season, Radford is shooting 42.2% which ranks second-best in the conference. From three-point range the team is shooting 33.2% which also ranks second in the Big South. Radford also has two players ranking top-20 in scoring for the conference with Traylor (11.9 ppg) and LaLonde (10.2 ppg).
