The Radford men's and women's basketball programs will both host games in the Dedmon Center this Sunday. The women's team kicks things off with their 2 p.m. tip against Norfolk State while the men will follow with an approximate tip time of 4:30 p.m.. Radford University will host a march, Destination Dedmon, before the games as students will march to Dedmon from campus to celebrate the return of the basketball season.

SERIES HISTORY
Radford and Norfolk State meet for the 12th time in program history Sunday afternoon with the Highlanders owning an 8-3 edge in the series history. When the two squads last met in the early-goings of the McGuire Era, Radford won a thrilling 74-65 overtime victory inside the Dedmon Center behind a 22-point performance from standout Ayana Avery. At home, Radford holds a 4-1 record over Norfolk State.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
Norfolk State enters Sunday's match-up unscathed through the early-goings of nonconference play with two tight road wins over William & Mary and Drexel. In the Spartans most recent match-up, freshman Anjanae Richardson pushed the Spartans on top with her 14 bench points and three-pointer in the closing seconds that put the Spartans up for good.

A stout defense has played the largest part in Norfolk State's success so far this season as the team is holding opponents to just 56.5 ppg and averaging 17.5 turnovers forced per game. Kierra Wheeler leads the scoring efforts for the Spartans so far with 32 points and 16 rebounds in her first two games.

ASHLYN TAKES OVER
Sophomore Ashlyn Traylor-Walker took over Thursday night's contest at Western Carolina with one of her best performances yet. Against the Catamounts, Traylor-Walker set a new career-high for points with 25 eclipsing her previous high of 21 against Emory & Henry in her collegiate debut. Adding to that total, the Franklin, Ind. native earned her first double-double of the season with 12 rebounds, 4 assists and a block.

FIRST TIME SINCE…
The Radford women's basketball program has gotten off to a 2-0 start this season which is their best start to a season since 2018-19 when the eventual conference champions took down South Carolina State and ETSU in their first two games. Radford will look to become the first squad to start the season 3-0 since the 2011-12 squad began their campaign at 4-0.
