CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Friday evening the 2023 Conference Award Winners featuring three Highlanders that included
Shady Hammam,
Alex Kryazhev and
Noah Haddad
Shady Hammam, who has stepped up to be a relentless defender on the Radford defense, was recognized in the second team all-conference having played a total of 15 games for the Highlanders this season. In those games played, Hammam recorded 1,211 minutes of play time and was also able to rack up 14 shots averaging .93 shots a game with five of those shots on goal. In the season finale he was finally able to find the back of the net for his first career goal as a Highlander in the draw against Presbyterian.
Alex Kryazhev was recognized as an honorable mention all-conference this evening. In the 17 games Kryazhev has played in the 2023 season he was able to rack up four goals and two assists for the Highlanders. He also notably was tied for seventh in the conference for shots on goal with 16. Kryazhev was also recognized earlier in the season having won the Big South offensive player of the week award, the first time a Radford player has won the award since 2019.
Wrapping up the awards was Haddad who not only stood out on the field but also in the classroom to earn the team's all-academic award. Haddad who is set to graduate this spring with a degree in nursing earning an impressive 3.75 GPA. Haddad in his career as a Highlander was named team captain for his final two years and has played in 38 games accumulating a total of 1,817 minutes of play and has proven to be a stout defender from the moment he first arrived.
