2023 RAD48 Giving Challenge Raises Over $170,000 For Radford Athletics Programs

RADFORD, Va. – The third annual RAD48 Giving Challenge blew away all expectations thanks to the more than 790 generous donors who helped raise over $170,000 for each of Radford Athletics' 16 Division I athletics programs, as well as several crucial departments dedicated to enhancing the student-athlete experience.

This year's initiative, which began at Noon on Tuesday, Feb. 7 and ran through Noon on Thursday, Feb. 9, was unequivocally the most successful in school history. The previous high for RAD48 was the inaugural challenge which raised nearly $58,000 in 2021.

"We are grateful for everyone who helped make RAD48 such a resounding success, one that will have an immediate and lasting impact on our entire athletic department," said Director of the Highlander Club Frank West.

RAD48 is a department-wide fundraising drive that supports all 16 of Radford University's Division I programs. In addition, donors had the opportunity to support the Cheer & Dance program, the strength & conditioning nutrition station, our athletic training fund, as well as the three unrestricted funds for Radford Athletics, The Highlander Club General Fund, the Student Athlete Scholarship Fund, and the Women's Sports Leadership Fund.

Considering the ever-changing NCAA landscape, coupled with budget reductions handed down over the last couple years, these 48 hours will make a major impact in helping rebuild the foundation of Radford Athletics.

"I want to thank our Highlander donors for their tremendous generosity during our RAD48 campaign," said Director of Athletics Robert Lineburg. "We are so appreciative of each and every donor who participated. You are truly making an impact on the lives of our students and helping to put them in a position to be successful in competition, in the classroom, and in their lives after graduation."

Radford Athletics was able to secure a donor from all 50 states, the first time that feat has been achieved in school history, as well as some international donors from Japan, The Netherlands and Canada.
