Radford, Va. — Radford catcher Garrett Pancione has been named the Big South Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
 
Pancione had a memorable outing in Sunday's 11-6 win over Iona. In his second career start, Pancione went 4-for-4 with five RBI and a walk, including a two-run homer in the second inning. The five runs driven in were the most by a Radford freshman since Garrett Matheny in 2018.
 
For the weekend, Pancione batted 5-for-8 with a .667 on-base percentage. His efforts helped Radford secure a season-opening series win against Iona.

Radford travels to No. 12 North Carolina on Tuesday afternoon for their first road contest of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
