Highlanders Host GWU For White Out Game on ESPNU Thursday Night

RADFORD, Va. – Radford men's hoops will be center stage once again when they host the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs on ESPNU inside the Dedmon Center Thursday Night.

SERIES HISTORY
The Highlanders and Runnin' Bulldogs have only played each other 28 times ever, a miniscule number compared to some of the older rivalries that have existed in the Big South. But even with a smaller sample size, the two programs have one of the more interesting histories.

Gardner-Webb owns a 16-12 lead in the all-time series, but Radford snapped a four-game skid with a 63-59 win in Boiling Springs earlier this season. That result feeds into an extremely unusual stat: Radford is 7-6 at Gardner-Webb, but Gardner-Webb is 9-5 at Radford. Meaning both teams have a losing record against each other on their home floor.

In fact, GWU has won four straight games inside the Dedmon Center, dating back to their notorious 76-65 victory in the 2018-19 Big South Tournament title game.

SCOUTING THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
If you thought Winthrop was on a roll with three-straight wins coming into Saturday, look out for Gardner-Webb. The Runnin' Bulldogs will bring a five-game winning streak with them when they arrive at the Dedmon Center Thursday night.

Now in his 10^th season at the helm, Head Coach Tim Craft has his team playing some amazing basketball, starting on the defensive end. They rank first in the Big South and 30^th in the nation in scoring defense with only 63.5 points allowed per game. The Dawgs also rank 30^th in the nation with 4.8 blocks per game and 71^stwith 14.42 turnovers forced per game.

DQ Nicholas continues to lead the way on the offensive end, scoring 12.4 points and dishing out 3.4 assists per game. Kareem Reid holds down the post with 10.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per contest.
